Court I keep seeing a figure for a no compete clause of 15 months or 1 1/2 years. Is this for real? Does anyone know besides the upper management or Erik? That seems kind of short.

Hey Buelltards,

Here's a story from the Milwaukee Journal. As I'm a Mi'wakee boy, I read the rag online, mostly for the Packers reports. But this one on HD caught my eye, especially the last line.

Enjoy

Can you guess whose door that quote was posted on for years at the old Buell?

Yes, that is where I got the quote from. I heard him say it.

Would you care to let the rest of us know?
It's a good quote.

Hint #1: There weren't that many doors in the Old Buell (Jefferson St. Mukwonago) building...

Hint #2: There's a recent post on this forum with a video of said person reciting said quote...

No need to think too hard,

Thank you. I thought so, but I wasn't positive. There are a lot of people associated with Buell who might have said that.

Agreed Crusty, sorry If I was not at work I would have posted it here. After seeing Mr. Buell say that, it lifted my spirits a bit. I looked up the author to see some of his other work because I had never heard of him beyond that quote.

I am still sick over HD dropping Buell. I remember when HD bought the rest of Buell in 1998. The local dealership could not wait to tell me that. It made me sick. I understand it but it made me sick.

I am happy the micro management of HD is over. I am sad that many people that had a hand in building my bikes had to find new jobs and I could not imagine the emotion going through Mr. Buell when he had to tell everyone that worked for him the news. I can only draw from my own experience and remember the pain in my bosses voice when he had to lay me off in 2006. I was only out of work for two days after he found me something with another company. I can imagine the same thing happened in East Troy.

Its over and time to look forward. I hope all the elves find something that gives them the same satisfaction as working at Buell did but that is a tall order to fill.

I doubt we will ever see another motorcycle company like Buell.

I still cannot comprehend that information like dropping the Buell line (I hate to call it a line of bikes but that is the way HD thought of it) was leaked to outsiders before it was told to Erik Buell. That pisses me off to no end and someone should be fired for that one. I also do not understand the people that actually got pleasure from that news. The only thing I can figure is HD loyalist did not think Buell was good enough to be in the same showroom or were afraid that Buell would grow beyond their control. I hated to see the looks of the salesman, at less than stellar dealerships, when you mention Buell.

Whatever the future holds it will be exciting, It is already exciting with Buell winning races. Although I long for the days (or attitude) before the 1125, I know that those bikes made a great impact on the motorcycle industry and I have a feeling they would have done great things. I wish we could calculate how much money HD lost from future sales.

As far as HD... I hate the decision, I hate the fact that a golfer is running the show but mostly I hate what they did which seemed like a misguided or personal decision.

I do not hate HD riders or dealerships that were good Buell dealerships but I do feel like the whole world was against the brand of motorcycle I ride.

One thing is for sure. I will ride my vintage S2s with pride, help others when I can and hope that we see some new bikes coming out of East Troy. Hell, I do not want a new bike I just want a company I can invest it.

I am content, for now, to be a part of "an interesting group of freethinkers."

Sorry for the rant.

Buell is as much a state of mind as a person, brand or factory.

Buell is very alive and very well.

well said!

motorcycles are vehicles of emotion, at one time harley understood this and was even saved by it. that company no longer exists.

although bmc went down for the count it now appears that the stars are aligning for another go-round. should be a lot of fun to watch.
