Court,
Do you have any insight into why new engine cases requires a 21 day lead time? I got no real answer at the dealership but I'm guessing (pure speculation) that it has something to do with the VIN stamping, but 21 days before they even ship seems long (probably because that time is spent off bike borrowing a truck to commute in). Any behind the scenes info on this process?
Thanks,
Austin

Austin:

My, off the bat guess, would be the VIN requirements. Your dealer might be able to accelerate that. I don't know. But it might warrant a call to their SPOC rep informing them is a "down bike" (not a huge surprise given that it's the engine cases).

It may that the process just takes that long.

By the way . . . how cool is it to live in Bastop and be named Austin? Vickie and I are trying to get down to Bastrop for BBQ. My wonderful Aunt and Uncle are Batropians and we were just with them in Kansas. They are in Australia now but keep bugging us to come visit. Bastrop must be a healthy place, my uncle just quite playing hockey . . . at 74!

Court,
Best part of being named Austin was being born in New York City, growing up in Dallas (heh heh your parents shoulda called you Dallas heh heh), going to school in Austin (always easy to remember your name while intoxicated), moving to Bastrop (back to the your parents shoulda named ya Bastrop heh heh). When you do make it out this way drop me a line austin86ed aht gmail.com. I'd welcome the chance to join you for some BBQ and a cold one and a few of the "remind me to tell ya" stories.
I've been listed as "down bike" since the moment I walked through the door, the guys at the dealership know that the bike IS my transportation and they try to get everything asap. They got all the original fix it parts within a week, unfortunately they didn't find the case was cracked until they started to reassembly process. So as of this morning the cases are 12 days out until shipping. On the bright side I get to miss the last of the cold commuting for the season.

Austin
