Court,

I've got an 06 Uly that is in need of the BAS recall and the kick stand recall. I have been waiting since June 16th for these to be done. I have been into the dealership twice and have been told both times that they have the BAS in stock but the Motor Company is not getting them the side stand parts. I haven't decided if they are not ordering it for me or if indeed Harley is this poor. I have ordered other parts before, such as 07 springs, tall windshield, etc. and have had excellent service. What do you think?

I have tried to find a Buell customer service telephone number but have failed so far. Do you think getting Buell CS in on it would help? I haven't had any issues with either update, but I would like to get them done before the warranty runs out.

Thanks for your help.

The recall part number is 94483Y. HD shows the part readily available. Your profile shows you in Billings MT; no dealers in MT show the part in stock. There is one showing at a dealer in Gilette WY, but mapquest puts that over 3 hours away from you.

Point is, the parts are out there. Your dealer should be able to get them. Try going to the parts counter and ordering the part number above without reference to the recall. When it comes in, inform the service dept you want it installed under warranty. If you'd like a copy of the service bulletin I could probably email you a copy of it, I don't think it's got proprietary info (Court?).

Thanks Ratbuell, it is as I suspected my dealer isn't really interested in helping me. I will be contacting them this week to see if they have the parts, if they don't then I'll take your advice and order them myself.

Thanks again for your help.

I'd recommend calling Buell CS with the part number in hand, let them know your servicing dealer, and ask "innocently" if there is a supply problem. Best way to fix the kid is to let the parent know they're misbehaving....
