I'm fairly new here; I hope this is posted in the right place. I'm over three weeks waiting for an H-D dealer to get a fan for my Uly. I'm about to just order one and put it in, but am concerned about messing with the warranty. I've called about it, and they don't seem to be getting it from the factory or the ball's been dropped somewhere. What next?

email me at jgoetz@hdoffrederick.com and I'll check part numbers / backorder at work tomorrow. Might not help much, but may give a fuller picture. Also email with what year Uly you have please. Thanks!

I expect to have an answer for you in the morning. In the meantime, do send the stuff to Ratbuell and let him run the parts.

New or old, you deserve prompt parts.

I've got an 06 that is in need of the BAS recall and the kick stand recall. I have been waiting since June 16th for these to be done. I have been into the dealership twice and have been told both times that they have the BAS in stock but the Motor Company is not getting them the side stand parts. I haven't decided if they are not ordering it for me or if indeed Harley is this poor. I have ordered other parts before, such as 07 springs, tall windshield, etc. and have had excellent service. What do you think? I have tried to find a Buell customer service telephone number but have failed so far. Do you think getting Buell CS in on it would help? I haven't had any issues with either update, but I would like to get them done before the warranty runs out.

Thanks for your help.

Kvdog:

The fan part number is Y0050.02A8A.

They are in abundant supply as of midnight 08/06/07.

Call Buell Customer Service and ask why your dealer, who'd been waiting 3 weeks, can not get the part.

>>>>I have tried to find a Buell customer service telephone number but have failed so far.

ANSWER: It is prominently posted on Badweb and in your Buell Owners Manual. Buell Customer Service: 1-414-343-8400.

>>>Do you think getting Buell CS in on it would help?

ANSWER: That is their JOB and their ONLY job. You invested your trust, confidence and a load of cash in Buell. The BUELL CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM EXISTS to make certain you have the most enjoyable experience possible.

Please call them. I am aware of no reason your dealer should not be able to have the parts in 48 hours.

I also emailed you with the part number. Make sure the dealer caught the supersession to the -A part number; the one without the "A" is no longer available and if that's what they ordered...you'll continue to wait : (

Thanks Court! I called the dealer this morning and the fan just came in--no need to call Customer Service.

Cool!

Do everything you can, like share the info with the dealer about the "A" product, to help your dealer become a better dealer.

It shouldn't have to be this way and it will improve. But my experience is that few things contribute to a dealer being "good" than an enthusiastic group of Buell owners willing to spend money and "partner".

Well done.

Photobueller - this is also posted in your sidestand thread:

The recall part number is 94483Y. HD shows the part readily available. Your profile shows you in Billings MT; no dealers in MT show the part in stock. There is one showing at a dealer in Gilette WY, but mapquest puts that over 3 hours away from you.

Point is, the parts are out there. Your dealer should be able to get them. Try going to the parts counter and ordering the part number above without reference to the recall. When it comes in, inform the service dept you want it installed under warranty. If you'd like a copy of the service bulletin I could probably email you a copy of it, I don't think it's got proprietary info (Court?).

...I just hesitate sending anything "to the public" that has HD/B on the letterhead, LOL. Especially since they post 'em on H-Dnet and not on Harley-Davidson.com.

Frankly I don't think you should do it. They send them to Blake to post. Drop him a note and have him get it and post it.

I mean . . . who has ever even seen the notice about the change in torque on the big ol nut that became a banner ad here the day prior to release.

Me too . . I had a "Juneau Bubble" pop in my face the other day and a guy back up about as fast as his keyboard could handle.

In retrospect, it's better to be overly cautious and stick by the rules as best as possible.

I keep a copy of that big ol' Harley-Davidson "Rules were meant to be broken" poster on hand though . . .

Thanks to you both Ratbuell and Court for taking your time to help me. I feel foolish about the CS number. I had looked on the Buell website and did not see it and forgot about the owners manual. I keep it on the bike, out of sight out of mind I guess. I should have thought about this website, I have learned so much from this site. My thanks go out to all who post here. That's what makes this such a great place to look.

I can't remember ever having a bike that I have enjoyed as much as I do the Uly. Yes, the bike has some problems, but I don't know of any machine that is perfect. If anybody happens out this way I would love to hear from them. I would be happy to show them around MT.

Thanks again

"knock knock"
"who's there"
"Juneau"
"Juneau who"
"Yeah, Juneau who"

Could be the pic is blurred on purpose.

Photobueller, I had the same problem with my dealer, couldn't seem to get the parts for the sidestand recall. Been calling them since May, I gave up and called another dealer, they had them in 3 days! The parts are available, I would talk to the store owner or go somewhere else.
