Hello Court:
Not being very familiar with the XB series (specifically "r") I was wondering what upgrades/ changes have occuried during the years 2003-2006.

I am thinking about purchasing an 04' but, there is an 05' or two also under consideration.

I'd like to target mechanical differences versus cosmetic.

Yes there is hope for this rider who went over to the darkside ;+}

Thanks
Neil S.

Anybody know the changes between the 04' and 05' XB models?

Thx
Neil S.

Neil,
I'm not Court, and I'm not an expert, but . . .
Aside from the intro of the CityX in 05 (coinciding with the demise of the 9s) I don't think there were a ton of differences between the 04 and 05. Throttle body springs to mind?
04 got the improved pulley, 06 got the lifetime belt but the "lifetime belt" should be a direct swap. The front forks might have been changed between 04 and 05, or it might have been 05 and 06, but the nagging concern, the incredible shredding belt, was taken care of in 04 so no worries.
I'm pulling from memory here so take it with a grain of salt.
IMHO the biggest deal besides the pulley and belt for 04 was the transmission change between 05 and 06. Waaaay smoother and an easier clutch pull. But after the S2 it should all feel like "buttah" to you, right?

Phillyblast, thanks for the update. I have done some searching also and, found bits and pieces. I seemed to remember that we had a list of tube changes somewhere and I thought we might have the same for the XB's.

BTW, are you interested in John's S2 over in MO? There are many Buelligans in the STL area that could look it over for you. If I was looking for another S2, his seems real nice.

Heh,
I need a second yellow S2 like a hole in the head. Since he needs a dual sport I suppose I could trade an 05 drz400 for it, but my wife would kill me.
: )
