Court,

I have a 2001 M2 with 5000 miles.

I had my front isolator replaced about a month ago (700 miles ago). The original was starting to fail, and had a small tear in the rubber. Soon after the isolator was replaced, the bike developed a front rocker box gasket leak.
At this point i took the bike back into the servicing dealership and they said that the front isolator was completely 'shot' and that is why my gasket failed and why my leg was covered in oil.

The dealership called HD Tech and found that there was a 'bad batch' of isolators and apparently mine was one of them. The problem is that my dealership ordered the part from the factory, the factory sent them a bad part, they installed bad part, now i have a $250 bill for damage that bad part has done. The service manager also mentioned that there is permanent damage to the head, where the bolt threads in. So i will always have a small leak there.

Harley also said that they would make sure that the new part was a 'good part'. If they have control over, or can tell if a certain part is good or bad why did i get a bad part in the first place? Have you heard anything about this? What should my next course of action be?

Thank you kindly for your help!

Matt

(PS - hope this all gets panned out before homecoming)

It sounds, just based on the information you've provided, that you have experienced a rare Buell phenomenon we refer to as an RFK. . . . "Royal Fuque Kup".

Happens.

Drop me a note with your VIN, model, year, name, contact info and the name and contact info for your dealer. Also, include a phone number where I can contact you.

The last thing I want is to be seen standing next to someone with an oil leg.
