Court, Got a question for you. Do you think Buell should do a recall on the 2nd design side stand again with all the Buellers having their bolts back out and sheer off and watch their bikes fall over? I still cant figure why they even change it from the first design. After the first recall that side stand works and never had any problems.. It looks like they finally made a change on the bolt design for the side stand for 2007. Bolts goes all the way through and have a clip to hold it on.. Looks like Buell knows its a problem or they wouldnt have change it, Right? Dont you think Buell should do a recall or do you think they are going to let it slide and force everyone to pay for the fix themselves??? They did a recall on the first design..why not the second design??? Just wondering what your thoughts are...... | ||

I PMed court about having lost the sidestand 2 days after the end of warranty on my 05 XB9R but got no reply. H.D./Buell doesn't sell the old kits any more (good news the price is actually reduced as when you buy the "leg" you get the axle included for the same price as before) In my opinion, Buell corrected a design flaw introducing more flaws (twice actually since the new axle most probably will lead to another piece of hardware bending, I mean the problem isn't solved, it's just moved). My first sidestand broke because of 2 main design flaws: 1st They "solved" the sidestand kill switch issue by removing the kill switch altogether. Ride the bike daily I usually forgot to raise the stand twice a month on my first left turn for the first 6 months (strangely enough now that I have the new one it never hit the ground). 2nd I know for a fact that what finished to destroy mine was a trip to the dealer to have the saddle bolts replaced. The dealer used a percussion screwdriver while the bike was standing on the stand and I lost it the very same day. That XB9R saddle design is just LAME. (Not to mention the Temecula H.D. dealer which of course refused to help, well they installed the 2 new saddle bolts free of charge, that's for sure...) |
