Anybody else here receive the ENTHUSIAST magazine from Harley-Davidson? I'm not that bright and a bit curious. As I read, from cover to cover, this puzzled me. . . .
Just me? . . or is there a pattern here? Just as I was getting really depressed. . . I read the editorial by the new Editor.

I got that magazine and I noticed the same thing. That, and the whole magazine only has one page for the Buell, and there isn't even a decent picture -- its all cut off. I threw the magazine in the recycle pile less than 10 minutes after finding it in my mail. What a waste of trees. | ||

I saw the Enthusiast editor's column too and was happily surprised. Funny observation about the trailer ads. That is funny. On a related note, the new Fuell magazine ROCKS! It has one of the best ever interviews with Erik I've seen. Very good stuff. I really enjoy hearing about the history of Erik's efforts in the motorcycle world. The man is certifiably "enthusiastic", virtually borderline lunatic when it comes to racing motorcycles. I now understand why HDI made him promise to cease riding on the track... Purposefully and repeatedly binding up the chassis and initiating a snap-back near-highside in order to quicken a left-right transition on his Ducati race bike. Thing is, I have the distinct impression that he'd do the same today if they let him. Am I wrong? Of course on a Buell, there would be no need for such creative maneuvers.  | ||

I too remember seeing a trailer ad that had the catchline: "For real bikers only." WTF?? My K1200LT sports a sticker on the trunk that says "If you see this motorcycle on a trailer, call 911" I'd put a similar sticker on my Lightning, but there doesn't seem to be any space for it. At least my M2 Cyclone had a fender where I could sport my "Would you drive any better if that cell phone were up your ass?" sticker... | ||

watch for the new ads for the HD trike that will be out soon. Maybe that will keep it off of the trailer, out of the back of the truck and from being towed by the RV. | ||

you'd be amazed at the number of customers that think a 10 year old bike with 20,000 miles is "high mileage"! I get people all the time looking at FLHTCUs that are planning on "long rides" or so they tell me. Then I ask them where they are going and they something like, oh, all the way to Door County. Now, Door County is about 50 miles away. Long ride indeed, I have no idea how they are going to pull if off! Some even admit that it will be a 2 day trip to ride that far! Bahahahahahahahahahahahahah! Then I tell them that on Saturdays, after I work all day I hop on a Firebolt and ride 300 miles home  Then 300 miles on Tuesday morning to get back in time to work 9-6 | ||

I bought an '00 M2 in 2005 with 4000 miles on it. I don't know if the guy didn't like the bike or what. He had all the services and updates done and I got it for $4000. I think I did pretty well. I put 400 miles on it riding it home. | ||

That sounds like my 98 S1W - I bought it from the second (!) owner in summer 2006...with 1100 miles on it. As my *second* bike, I logged 2500 miles on it last season, all local rides. (in addition to the 10k logged on the FLHP) And on its license plate, covering the stupid "www.maryland.gov" script, is the sticker "HANG UP AND DRIVE". |
