I loved the question about how you get your Buell Motorcyle information. They didn't have a checkbox for badbweb, so I had to enter it under "other." ; )

At least one more...I did the same.

Also was sure to mention the importance of the Buell web site and others since information was hard to find at my dealer many times....hint, hint, hint.

When I bought my bike from the LARGEST HD dealer in Michigan 2 years ago, they carried EVERYTHING. Last year they phased out all the clothes (Yeah I got some good deals, bought 1 of everything practically) This year NEW for 05, they dropped the bikes too. This seems to be the trend for ALL the dealers in Southeast MI, I have yet to find one carrying clothes or accessories and I have been to 5 dealers that surround Detroit. My Question is: Who is the "Customer SUPPORTING" Dealership that this BUELL Customer should be supporting. I'm in a MAJOR Metro Area. NOT one SUPPORTING Dealership. That Ducati I have had my eye on is looking real good.

Orange County HD in south orange county Ca., dropped Buell also. Wont work on them or sell parts. Needless to say I was ticked. After I talked my son into buying one from them. Mine is a 96, so warranty service is not important, but his is new.

San Jose HD, New for 2005, NO LONGER, selling, servicing or delivery parts for Buell. As a business owner myself, it strikes me as odd that they won't even perform non-warranty revenue service, I guess they already have enough money!

Buell is listening?

Mancuso in Houston (old location on the loop) has about five Buells in stock and they are left outside in the parking lot. Good luck selling those, not a whole lot of appeal. As far as parts go, they have nothing in stock, apparal... don't even ask.

It's frustrating because I work around the corner and bought my City X from them. I'd love to stop in regularly to buy a new T-shirt or some accessory that I just have to have, but they don't even have frame pucks in stock.

Being in business myself I can understand that HD's and choppers are their core business. But what about customer support? I love this bike, but I'm beginning to wonder if it will be extinct by next year.

I have to ask, how well is the company doing? Because if everything was great I think we would see more dealer support. Also, how come we can't buy stuff from Buell directly? If the dealers won't carry anything (not even a FRICKEN T-SHIRT!) at least they could offer it online or through a direct order catalog???!!!???

Mike,
The company is doing great, better than ever before.
If you need anything just give me a call or email.
I am waiting on shirts(still) but have most everything else you would want or need on hand.
Once you have provided me with your info all you have to do is send me an email with what you need and I'll ship it out.

I also have a "feeling" that things will look up for you in the Houston market soon.
Hang in there.

Mike:

I too have a feeling that things will improve in the Houston area soon.

For now, I advise you to "get high". That's right, jump on the "high road", hook up with the active local Buell group (there is no greater motivator to improve a dealership than a group), practice expressing your concerns to your dealer responsibly (kinda like, I was in the other day, ready to spend a hundred bucks on Buell gear. Will you be getting any more in soon?) and in the meantime, any of the dealers here on Badweb can you you what we call "ProntoParts".

Thanks for letting us know about the situation. The first step toward change.

GREAT news for Houston, what about the rest of the country. And to DAVE's point, Yeah I can pick up the phone or send an e-mail and get what ever I need, but when I bought my bike, i bought from Michigan's LARGEST HD dealer, this dealership is AMAZING and I have NEVER been treated the way I was treated when I bought my lightning. I thought what a great place to go meet fellow owners/riders talk, ride, buy a shirt, I was SO into the whole thing, I spent alot of time convincing Wolverine to start a BRAG group, and was led to believe they were in the BUELL business. NOW...NO BIKES, NO CLOTHES, and the last time I was there an HD dad with his kid who asked his dad what my bike was, Dad said it was JAP Sh_t. Nevermind the BUELL sign on the building but I couldnt go into the store and point to a Buell and tell the kid it was an HD Sport Bike and NOT JAP Sh_t....cause there are NO Buells on the floor. I cant even get anyone at Wolverine to tell me which dealer in the Detroit Metro Area will be the Supporting Buell Dealer. I have been to all them...NO Merchandise!!!!!!, and NO Bikes!!!!!!. Everyone says Buell is listening, I DOUBT IT, And I dont believe after spending $10,000.00 I should have to drive 2 hours to buy a shirt, a new helmet, what if I want to LOOK At something, yeah the internet is nice, but sure does not take the place of driving to your local dealer and touching a part, seeing a shirt, a jacket, trying it on.

IS BUELL listening???????????????? I have supported Buell, how is Buell gonna Support me?

Thank you. The fit and quality of the side bags and trunk are A-1. They are quick to install and remove. Loaded or MT the bags/trunk stay put during 100+MPH wind turbulance and during instant G loads.

I've been checking out the site recently and decided to join. It's great to see so many Buell supporters in one place. I live in SW New Mexico and don't know anyone else in the area that rides a Buell. I went to the "World's Largest Harley-Davidson Dealership" two weeks ago for my Sling Bag offer qualifying demo and was amazed to find out they're selling out of all apparel. They had only one Buell for demo (an '03 9S). I had to wait over an hour for them to prep the bike for the ride. They claimed it was because they'd sold everything off the floor that week. Now, I'm saying to myself, "Self, if they've sold so many bikes in the last few days, where are they? I haven't ever seen one on the city streets, at shows, rides, nothing." They've never been very helpful, at least not with me, where Buell is concerned...maybe it's because I'm a chick. I don't know. Somewhere on the boards I read a post about the foreign bikes' cost rising due to the value of the Euro and the suggestion was made that it would be nice if it would spur Buell to begin a more aggressive promo campaign. My experience with other makes/models is limited, do they send you a free t-shirt, give away caps, frame sliders, sling bags, etc? I think the company has the right idea, but they're not getting the message out there. That's a lot for a newbie's first post, but it's my $.02

X1grrl, Not sure where in swNM you are located but I know Sante Fe HD/Buell rocks, and Murrea the service manager is a BadWebber. Keep tabs on the AZBuellers stormfronts section as we just held a ride weekend that involved the 191. We picked it up at Morenci/Clifton.

Hello Buellers,

Santa Barbara HD/Buell is now simply "HD".

Ventura HD/Buell still claims to be "Buell" but, as the man said, "they're ain't no there there"...

I sure hope Buell figures out a way to get some dealership support in the US of A.

Jim_sb,

Or California for that matter...I found out Santa Maria may be dropping it meaning there is a huge gap statewide (I think) from the Bay Area all the way down to just above LA...thankfully most normal maintenance stuff I can do..

For those in NJ, Liberty Buell is embracing the Buell brand after a long period of less than stellar support. Not saying we have everything, but are working to get the popular things (including apparel, Buell Vanson leathers, etc). I know I'm going to go to either Milwaukee or MMI for formal motor company training on the XB platform after the season is over. Trust me, there are dealers out there that are trying to keep the momentum going. Be sure to support these dealers, even if it's just a t-shirt every once in a while. And $325 for a Vanson leather jacket with Buell reflective patch is a pretty fair price, hint hint!

I think my 9R is an absolutely fantastic bike. But I'm going to sell it. Why? The three nearest dealers no longer sell/service Buells. I'm now looking at a 220mi round trip for maintenance (I don't have a garage so can't do it myself) which just isn't feasible. And unfortunately no matter what neat new models Buell rolls out, I won't consider them because of the dealer network issue.

I don't know about everyone else, I have found it easier and more economical to call a professional Buell dealer, order the parts over the phone, and have them delivered to the door than drive to (who knows where now) and order parts, drive back and pick them up. I can probably go like that for a while until something changes.

The motorcoach industry works like that also. There are no local dealers, only regional dealers(north, south, east, west) and traveling sales reps. All parts are over the phone. One manufacturer has traveling parts and service reps that carry common parts in the service van.

X1grrl, the trip to Albuquerque is well worth the effort. Chick's HD on Alameda west of I25 is seriously Buell friendly. Just before Memorial Day they had all the Buell models on the floor and an XB sittin' at the front door ready for demo rides. Great selection of apparel and accessories. Friendly and knowledgeable sales folks.

Set the cruise control, head north on 25, turn west at Alameda and you'll see Chick's HD/Buell on the left!

Dean's H-D / Buell in Souderton, PA is keeping the faith. They have the parts, most of the clothing, the books, some of the accessories. They have a mechanic who is the Buell evangelist, and one of the sales guys is very pro-Buell. They have all of the models in stock and a nice selection of used bikes too.

The problem with most H-D dealerships supporting Buell is they just don't "ride that way" so they don't know how to handle the bikes.
