Found the 3 rolls of 35mm I shot, thought you'd enjoy these.

Remind me, at Homecoming, to tell you why I was digging them out.

Court,

I sure did enjoy them and I sure will remind you about this and many other things at Homecoming.

My best memory that day was seeing Kyle Petty walking around the pits wearing a Buell varsity jacket. At the time it made me think 'We DO exist!'. A close second would be Dano switching hats (temporarily) with Richard Petty. Speaking of King Richard, I came across the hat I wore that day signed by none other than the king himself:
King Richard

Can't wait for Homecoming,

1313 - If you're ever in Raleigh, stop by the NC History museum downtown. There is an entire exhibit on Petty. It's pretty impressive to get something like that while you are still alive.

Hey Court,

Were you parked in front of the Guggenheim about six weeks ago? White helmet (Arai?), black jacket? I was out with the fiance checking wedding locations, and noticed a CityX in front of the Guggenheim, just came across this thread and wondered if that was you.

I've got a Yellow Blast, and will be moving it from the parents down to our place in Brooklyn in a few weeks. Hope to ride with ya.

Well thing, I would be inclined to agree, but if you look closely, there appears to be some large animal or small pedestrian laying behind the bike, having recently been run over or something.

So maybe it was Court, and he had to make an exception to his normal rules of engagement to get a confirmed kill ; )

Look...you guys are NOT helping....I had an "encounter" with one of the NYPD's finest this afternoon.

He was stationed near the exit from the FDR to the Brooklyn Bridge stopping folks who made the illegal, and irritating "last minute dive" to the exit. I, armed with the trusty Nikon, was snapping pics, ostensibly candidly. When I saw him distracted, I tried to pop one of him.

Just as I stuck the huge Nikkor lens out the window he looked up and a foot chase ensured. Yes, I was caught, in a chase while I was in a car and the cop was on foot.

He snapped "it's illegal to take pictures of the bridge".

"Wait"...I exclamiated. It's the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most photographed landmarks in the world. If it's a crime, bring the S.W.A.T. team and let's get all 175 of those folks up there with cameras.

Unamused, he clarified, that even if it WERE legal, it ain't from a moving car. He seem unimpressed with my account of my perceived driving skills as he collected license, insurance and registration.

Ohwoeisme..........

He came back, gave me a stern warning and I faded into Gotham traffic.

I still maintain....I am a victim. I was, for the record, traveling in the proper direction.

Thank G_d someone is finally doing something about those damn last minute divers. Pisses me off everytime I go to get on or off the Brooklyn Bridge. Especially the right hand offramp to the FDR. Bastards.

I say rather than ticket people that do the dive, just tow 'em. Right then and there.

Then there's the offramp to Cadmins/BQE at the end of the Brooklyn bound side...oooooy. Why the heck can't they re-do that so it doesn't jam up the whole bridge?

You are right. I never understand the exit to Cadman Plaza.

It's clearlt marked at the right lane being the only turn lane. Yet, the center lane of the Brooklyn Bridge has become a de facto turn lane and it works quite well, UNTIL they do the next jump after the turn.

I'm always headed straight over to Henry and have to wait while all of them do their shuffle.

Worst merge in the city is from the Gowanus to the BQE Eastbound.

New York City, in my opinon, is light years behind the rest of the world in highways. Design, construction and maintenance have been plauged by years of graft and corruption.

The entire process is haunted by the simple fact that there is really no "good" time to work on our roads. Remember that about anywhere in NYC has more traffic at 3AM Wednesday morning than Cinncinati or Phoenix have at mid-day.

The only upside is that it seems 90% of the folks in town are "lawyered up" and involved in a some sort of personal injury suit, seen by many as a replacement for education and hard work, going after someone for injuries on, and sometimes due to, the roads.

Don't' get me started or I'll dig into my collection of photos of stupid accidents (yes, from as recent as yesterday at the Kisiosko (sp?) Bridge. I also have assembled the "pothole diaries".

Off to ride.....

It was brought to my attention that some folks, who have actually used the term "86'd it" had no idea where the term came from. . . . .

 86 Bedford

well, one theory is the Delmonico Bros resturaunt, item "86" was one they always sold out of..

BUT, there are to other ways to use it..both from the Navy...

Code 86, was to ignore previous message(use in tele-type), or plain voice radio comms..

Anotehr, is a much older, from the term deep sixed.. which meant to "float test", ot toss over the side...

I have no idea which one is true...

BUT, we do still use the last 2 in teh navy...so..

So... how wrong am I..

Bomber, that is indeed myself. And yes, the suit thing is sort of an unnatural act for me, but since I had spent the day convincing the owners of the company that I should be retained for another year, I still had my corporate BDU's on when I met Court et.al. for the evening's bacchanalian feast.

Your name came up during dinner. I insisted that you're really an all-right guy.

CHEMISTRY QUIZ:

Okay guys and gals...take your bet shot:

1. Why does horsehair carpet padding smell like ammonia when smoldering?

2. Dynamite sticks that have exterior crystallization, why should they be handled with remote devices?

3. Write the eqation for transmutations of Xenon-133 and Xenon-135. This questions is referring to the Three Mile Island Nuclear power plant.

2) Dynamite was invented by Alfred Nobel - yeah, the Peace guy - in 1866 in Sweden. He discovered that Nitroglycerin absorbed in Silica creating a malleable paste rather than the rather unstable liquid nitro.

However, at higher temperatures, the nitroglycerin "sweats" out of the dynamite sticks creating nitroglycering droplets on the outside. Those drops are as volatile as regular nitro i.e. detonates by shock and may take the entire stick with it ...

Did anyone say "Bang" ....

Hello Court and everyone else...Newbie here. I just purchased a 01 Buell x1 with 4900 miles...It seems to run great, already has some mods on it like, race ecm, vance&hines exhaust, updated shifter, pm wheels. So far so good. The only thing is the engine light come on after about 30 minutes of riding. Bike runs fine, but the light's on. It stays on for about 5 minutes then turns off. Again the bike runs fine the entire time. I read some reviews and have replaced the engine exhaust sensor, but nothing else. I have replaced the spark plugs and they looked a little black...The HD shop I purchased my bike from said the last guy who had it complaned of fouling plugs. Almost like a 2-stroke...I tend to ride on the power band a little and have not had a plug foul on me yet...Court, what do I need to do to my bike, other than "ride it"...Again, I have ridden other brand before, zx-9, gsxr, Fzr etc...Just need some help and guidance with this one..Is it a keeper or should I look for another bike...Thanks

Gary / a.k.a - Rideorange

Your attitude is good and your "just ride it" scores you points.

Whatever it is sounds like it's not threatening to change the orbit of Earth.. Here's what I'd do...give "Clown" (Cameron Ayers) a call at (770) 979-7999 and see if you can hook up to scoot the X-1 the 65 miles to his place someday.

Now, I am not familiar with Earl Small's these days and they may be able to do this. Someone needs to pull the trouble code and find out what's causing the light to come on.

I know Clown's folks can, I am unsure about Small's.

I'll send him a copy of this andhe;s set up to get tech support from the Elves at Buell if he needs it.

One way or the other...get it fixed and enjoy the dickens out of the bike.

Change your O2 sensor with a Bosch 12014 from your local Auto Zone. Cheap and will probably do the trick.
