Hi there!
I live in Stockholm/Sweden/Europe and own a S1 White Lightning (frame no. YS11J9W3226177). As far as I know there are only about 20 of them in Sweden.

Is it possible to find out how many S1 White Lightning's Buell produced in total?
If yes, how many of these were sold to Europe?

Were all White Lightning's painted pearl white at the factory or did they also come in other colors?

On an UK site they are talking about a Lightning Strike as a black painted S1 with S1W specs. Where they UK specific?

Thanx in advance

The S1W's came in many different colors. Mine is all black, frame, wheels, bodywork. Some where there was a post for the total number made by color.

Patrik:

There were 4 frame colors and 4 body colors and therefore 16 combinations.

The S1WL Lightning Strike was a Matt Levetich special and was UK specific. Actually, I am not sure Matt had anything to do with it, but he did some neat things with Buell in the UK and is on the rise at HD now.

I'll look at see if I can nail the number for Sweden. I suspect the best I'll be able to do is Europe. Glad to have you here.

Of roughly 2,000 S1WL's made, 51% stayed in the USA and 49% went "world".

Toss out 7 (5 and 2) special police bikes, the group of race bikes built the first week of May, the bike we sent to the freight forwarding company to prepare to ship bikes to Europe and a host of media, dual seat and test bikes, the mix can be accurately represented as 50-50.

There were a couple "first time" and unusual places that S1WL's went that year. The most notable is that Harley-Davidson DM's (District Managers", in an effort to spur Buell interest, were "required" to ride Buells. Hence they got S1WL's. . . most of which were, duh...in ((see if you can guess the color combinations)).

The 1998 Buell S1WL was a very special motorcycle for a number of reasons and one I'd still like to add to my personal fleet.

There is no way, given the constraints of time, to determine how may went to Sweden.

I hope this is of some help or interest. Let me know.
