We sell quite a bit of Nallin's stuff via Sport Twin and have installed his heads and pistons on several Buells and Sportsters here at Buell of Dallas with nothing but great results. I won't put anything on my Buells unless Brian has laid hands upon thy castings. My 98 and 00 Lightnings both have his heads and pistons, both make 100hp and 80 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheel.

By the way..... we do carry his stuff in stock, no waiting just exchange your Thunderstorms for ours. Go here for heads and here for pistons.

Brian called yesterday and we got to visit for a quite awhile. He's doing some amazing things.

When I was with the Nallin's in Utah (one of the few states I think it's legal to be with BOTH of them in) I was very impressed with their dedication to "no BS" performance. They are dedicated and know of what they speak.

Richard is getting married and they asked me to come down to party with them. Blake...you are a fellow with a few years under your belt. That sound like a good ides to you?

Brad, I compliment you and your dealership for doing what Buell seems unable to do. As the discussion on the GDB bears out the folks who matter at Buell THINK parts are being delivered in 24 hours...er, make that shipped.

I'm unsure (I am sure, but will not admit it) as to why they don't do something as simple as I do annualy. I pick 12 Buell owners at random, have'em all order the same parts on the same day and let the chips fall where they may. This year we even used a hi-tech website that the folks could keep updated.

Customer Service is a VERB, not a noun in a job title.

Good job to you and the team in Dallas.

Court: We both know, dat dere's no-ting en Cagun country dat you ain't already done did, set an eyeball to, et, or ...! Have at it! You will be in for a real treat I'm sure.

If I'm home in Kilgore, I'd relish the chance to meet you in person... seeing as how after 8 months of me living only 40 miles from NYC and we ain't been able to get together yet... I'm about to get a complex here, seriously. I mean the one NJ/NYC badwebr I've had the pleasure of socializing with at any length, just recently up and moved all the way to Phoenix, AZ.

Court, I've tried posting this a couple of times as well as emailing you at a few different address' but you don't seem to be receiving it. Do I have to buy a patch to get an answer around here! Anyways, I'm inquiring about the Parts Survey that you organized early this year. I never saw the results posted and was curious how things went. What's the deal?

Thanks
Dave

Dave:

Sorry.

I'll answer as soon as time permits. I am up to my ass in 17 Buell "cases".....an $86M rebuild of the American Airlines terminal at JFK and trying to get tickets to London (less than $6,600) and making sure that 2 video tapes between Bonneville and Deal's Gap don't crash.

as best I can recall, it was all over the radar screen. of 12, about 4 walked in a bought, some gave up and some never got. I can't draw conclusions but I'd say there is an overall lack of uniformity.

I'll try to take a closer look and summarize.

Sorry.

Thanks Court, I know you're a busy guy, I just didn't know if you got my messages or not. Thanks for the reply. Sounds like the parts system still needs a little work. I'm glad my dealer is one of the good ones.

Court,

Could you provide us with the part numbers of the new tank protector and enlarged grips as seen on the new 2002 Firebolt XB9R? Tank protector looks like brushed aluminium? Once I have the numbers, I will order them from the dealer in Rockford, IL

Thanks, Dale Baker

Mark:

Where in Ireland? I am on the phone with the Superior Other who has just boarded a plane from Dublin to London and had many wonderful things to say about her Dublin in the 8 short hours she was there.

Just placed a call to the PTB to get the current lay of the land so you don't waste time. I'll be back to you within 24 hours with contact info.

Hold on to tether....help is on the way.

Ok.....just cornered the XB guru.

All the accesories will ship when the bikes ship. Whoa...don't go order anything quite yet. It's gonna be a bit.

I am getting the word that there is a concerted "this is going to be the best air engined bike to ever leave WI".

That, my friend, is worth waiting on the grips and tank pad for.

Court,

My only fear is that the XB beer steins, cd-cases, t-shirts and cigarette lighters, ship before the tip-over parts are in the stores.

Please Buell, ship tip-over parts to every dealer the day the first bike ships to that dealer. That is all that I ask.

Then all of the other accessories can ship as needed.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim:

I can't say for certain. But, based on the conversation I had today, I am confident that there is, within Buell, an unprecedented effort (with the proper support of top management) to insure that the XB, and all anciallary programs, do not ship until Erik say's it ships.

My bet is that we'll wait a bit longer than we'd like. I'm betting no one rides an XB this riding season. But, on the other hand, Buell did PRECISELY what we were begging for a week ago. Introduce the bike, make us a part of it, even with the final tweaking being done and INSURE this is a Buell to remember.

I can't say, but I'd be willing to bet on it.

I see this as a milestone in the Buell chronology.

I'll take that bet for one Jefferson nickle. :)
I'm going to guess there will be one XB at the Seattle area demo rides scheduled for this week or next, but I won't bet on that!

Court,

Thanks for the response on the new grips and tank protector for the XB. I want to add these to my S3T. Perhaps the marketing guys could add these accessories to the 2002 Buell clothing/accessory catalog? I suspect the tank protectors will sell faster than the tank bras.

I take it the grips are soft and large (for us middle age tourers...)?

Had a chance to see the new Firebolt in Rapid City this week. The V Rod too. The Firebolt was a real leap forward in integrating function and looks. Everything looks like it was carefully thought out right down to the last detail. Something sadly lacking on our S-3T that do have a rather 'kit' look to them. But I still love it.
Somethin did bother me however.
I asked some of the Buell folks what the plans were for the S-3T class of Buells. There was a disturbing lack of knowledge and willingness to discuss it.
Is there just a lack of knowledge or can we kiss a true Sport Touring Buell good by?

Items above..
-S-3 and T. Not selling very well currently. I am hoping that there will be a new sport touring bike from Buell. I love the curves, but I also like to ride on the open road.
Hopefully a 1400 cc or so motor that is air cooled, or the V-Rod motor. Plenty of power.

-Firebolt. the dealers in northern cal, said about one per month, starting later this year, with the majority of the bikes coming to the dealers next year sometime. hear say only.

I could be perfectly happy with my 2000 S-3T if I could go a good distance without having to fix something. At least they got the right fairing lower fix out.
The V-Rod engine looks like it could be a real good choice but it's pretty tall. With the air intake perched on top of the engine a place for the fuel tank would have to be found. Keeping the capacity up to a touring level could be tough.
Could one reason the S-3/Ts are not moving well be the fact that there is no real good advertising aimed at the real touring strengths of the machine. Most of the advertising is aimed at the go fast crowd on S-1s and M-2s.
I regularly put on 500 to 700 mile days. Just rode home from Sturgis to Cut Bank MT in one day. Thats 687 miles. Just a little refinement and a fuel guage would go a long way in making the S-3T a really good long hauler.
Tires that lasted more than 5000 miles would be nice, but that's not the bikes fault.

Ron,

I highly recommend the new Bridgestone BT-20 tire for your S3. I have already put 2,500 miles on mine and it still looks like new. I forsee at least 7-8000 miles on this tire.
