Thank you Lord for healing the Last Day function on the BWB...and how clever of you to get the Devil Himself to do the work.

Admin, the Sponsors topic on the GDB only lists 2 vendors. Are these special vendors or will the rest be listed later?

Blake, In the bar below the window used to be the name of the topic/thread.
It was a good reminder and helped to avoid drifting off.
I would like to see it back.
Hans

This one really gets my goat...

When a page with pictures is loading the img tags don't have heigt and width attributes. This causes the page to change in height as the images begin to load. The problems are more evident when you try to go to a specific message. You sometimes get put down right by that message, then lose the place as that message is pushed down as images begin to load.

Does Discuss have any kind of feature which automagically addresses the height and width deal?

Blake a discussion was opened in another area suggesting maybe a more organized dealer rater.

Here are a couple of those comments;

Dasxb9s:

"I think we would be better served to add a section on this board exclusively to list the dealers who support and promote the Buell. That way we can have a source to locate the nearest dealer to go for service or our next Buell."

Tripper:

"How about something like the system in use on EBay where you can leave feedback? I'm sure Josh and Blake could whip up something."

Dynarider:

"I agree with you & I dont think it would hurt one bit to have something on this site. I know Blake has the thread about rating your dealer but its long & drawn out & tends to wander. Would be nice to have an alphabetical listing so you could come in & look up the dealer you are considering & see if anyone has posted anything about them."

This discussion took place in the quick board "need pucks" area. I don't know if this type of situation is feasable but hink it would be a nice tool for the members of this community.

Thanks for your consideration.
Keith

Hans,
Your suggestion is in work. We will also put a navigation bar at the bottom of each page including <previous> <next> links to facilitate navigation of the archives.

Saro,
That bothers me too. Will ask the discus man if there is a solution to that.

Keith,
Sounds to me like the existing "Dealers" page could work fine with a little reorganization and customizing. I want to do much the same with the Storm Fronts page. Make it easy for interested people to find their nearest local group.

Thanks for the suggestion. I read it right away and have been cogitating on my answer.

Some new features...

Email forwarding now allows selection of 1st level suptopics. So if you are active or interested in one or more of the subtopics within the "Storm Fronts" main topic, you are now able to select only those group(s) within that topic that interest you. You will then only receive emailed copies of posts for the subtopics selected, not for every subtopic within Storm Fronts as was the case in the past.

We can now also choose that emailed copies of posts are sent in html form so that they appear exactly as they do on the forum pages.

Searches now use a MySQL database and so are much more efficient.

Searches include the ability to simultaneously use the "by date" and "by keyword" functions.

You can include basic html code within your posts as long as there is no BBS formatting code. Using both will not work.

The forum is now much more intelligent when it comes to converting URLs to hyperlinks. We can leave off the html:// part and if URLs with commas or other previously troublesome characters are now much more likely to get properly converted to an actual hyperlink.

We can now edit or delete our posts within 48 hours of the posting time.

Improved banner code should eliminate prior problems with cached browser settings leading to confused hyperlinks.

I know there's more but I cannot recall it all right now. Stay tuned and thanks for all the suggestions keep 'em coming. :)

Blake,
Thanks for looking into it. I really think this would make a nice tool for the members of this board as well as some of the sponsers. This would assist the members to find and reward the buell friendly dealerships and not rweard the poor ones out a neccessity. I look forward to seeing the revamped format in the future!

thanks for your consideration!

Need help with posting pictures. By the time I get the pics in postable form they're too small. Any suggestions with combinations of image size, picture quality or record modes?
Thanks, Cowtown

Cowtown,
Since computer screens do not display much more than 100 pixels (dots) per inch (dpi) and most are closer to 70 dpi, jpeg (.jpg files) with better than 70 dpi are wasted online. Higher dpi's improve print quality, but not online display quality. So if scanning a hardcopy for uploading you should scan at no more than 70 to 100 dpi with no more than 480x480 pixels.

If you are uploading photos produced by a digital camera you will want to adjust the size to no more than 4800x480 pixels and the quality to between 60% and 70%. If you take advantage of the www.xat.com jpeg optimizer or image optimizer (highly recommended) you will be able to post higher quality (upwards of 80%) or larger (no more than 640x640 pixels) photos online.

At some time in the distant future we may actually integrate the xat.com image optimizer into the pic upload routine, but until then, you'll need to perform image compression yourself. The xat.com product is extremely easy to use and they offer a free trial version. Check it out. What is really cool is that it allows you to choose specific areas of your photo where you want more or less compression. It makes it very easy to maintain ultra high quality on the subject of a photo while being able to compress superfluous or background portions.

The Tilley HD banner add is not appearing for me...looks like an issue displaying the gif file.

Why can't the sponsor page include direct links to their web site? The banners only take you to the discussion page on badweb for that dealer.
Sorry to be whiney but I think it should be easy to locate the sponsor, and utilize them. I cannot find the webpages for some of the sponsors at all.
