Brain child of Chop, this function has been a blessing for Sacborg and would most likely work well here. When you enter the 'Petty' forum you know its a food fight. |

They had an R-rated section here at one time. The petty forum idea is good, just make the posts expire and disappear and not get archived beyond some magical date/time between 15 minutes and 15 days. If a food fight lasts more than 15 minutes and is still going on 15 days later it is no longer a fight and is now a war and should probably find a better venue to have it out like some race track or UFC octagon someplace. I posted recently in a gun/knife thread over there, got att-blasted, replied, and then he went to play elsewhere. No biggie. I think I confused Hungary and Turkey, maybe that confused him too. |

Not a bad idea, in my opinion. How should we handle threads that start out OK, then turn petty? rt |

I am not for it. I was in recent disussions, but then I realize that not having those themes in large quantities is one of the desirable features of this board. If we make large room for that, we will have large quantities of that. |

"If we make large room for that, we will have large quantities of that." Not so sure about that, you'll have occasional flameups, but mostly I think you'll have a few regulars and a few trollers testing the waters and getting something out of their system until they head back to the general population side of the yard. |

Well it's up for a public vote in another thread, the Kiddies thread. Democracy in action! |

BTW Alan gives me credit, unfairly in my view, as the impetus for that idea. But I'll take the credit when it is offered. I inspire people. Who knew? Jon has a valid point. I'm not sure we would have large quantities of contributions to such a topic. He could be right, I'm not sure. If we prohibit political and religious rants from the topic, which SacBORG does not, I doubt the topic would get much play. It's tough to say. Might we give it a tentative try and evaluate the situation in six months time? As Jon said, we'd previously discussed this very idea and were in agreement to give it a go. |

I must confess here and now that I am home with the cold and short circuiting on caffiene. I'll try to behave. |

I suggested a separate room for off-topic discussions a long time ago. I think it was 1999. Got voted down. Now people go to SacBorg for off-topic discussions. Jim (Message edited by jima4media on June 15, 2006) |
