Apparently the finger was for Scholz. He believes Scholz passed him too closely or something. See: https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/motoamerica-g agne-on-superbike-provisional-pole-at-ridge/

Man, in MotoGP Petrucci had a reputation of being a nice guy, but so far in MotoAmerica he seems to be coming across as a first class douche!

I imagine things will be stepped up a notch from this point on. It will be a full on battle now.

LOL. Same experience. stupid soccer game then podium ceremony. I would say they infringe on the MA broadcast to some extent about 50% of the time. What a joke.

I had that issue a few years ago. I took a Sunday off work (double time pay) to watch a race on nbc only to get stupid figure skating. Never did that again.

Forgot to mention how surprised I was to see Larry Pegram back. He didn’t do too bad.

Attendance for roadracing in the US has plummeted. I noticed it really took a dive post the Mladin and Spies era.
Watch any YouTube video from that time or earlier, the turn out was much higher. Granted, the last 2 Covid years didnt help either. I think MotoAmerica is doing a great job, are people just not interested in the series, who knows. The only other times when the crowds really come out is for MotoGp and World Superbike.

Mladin and Spies were at their peaks when I/we got into roadracing as hardcore fans. Those WERE the days! You are correct. I feel like MA is dying a slow death. We will see how it goes at Laguna Seca next week. I am looking forward to it. Best weekend of the year!

Really good races all weekend. The Hooligan race on Sunday was probably the best race for passing during the event. Great shout out to Jake Gagne as to the best American Road Racing rider that the world Stage does not appreciate.

I talked to Geoff May in the pits after I yelled out "Hey can you get some good luck for a change". He showed me where the clutch cable disengaged from the lever to put him out of Stock 1000 race.

I wanted to see Cory West, Shelina Moreda, Danny Eslick but was handicapped walking around in slow motion waiting on someone older than me who still likes interacting with the racers.

Jake is on a roll. Unless Petrucci and Ducati can pull a rabbit out of their collective hats, this season is already likely over...

BTW, it's good to see more of that "Good Guy" persona Petrucci had over in MotoGP. Hope to see more of that.

Hard to beat the perfect weather this weekend at Laguna Seca. The racing was mediocre as usual and the vendors were down. Apparently, their space rentals went up (our camping sites DOUBLED compared to last year) AND either Laguna Seca or MA are giving the vendors a hard time about certain things. For instance, no one can sell or give coffee away and there is ONE "offical" source of coffee in the entire paddock (starting at $5 for a black cup of coffee.) Also, vendors not expressly setup to sell clothing were not allowed to sell any promotional clothins...so a motorcycle accessories tent wasn't allowed to sell t-shirts. All in all the brilliant powers that be are intent on driving away vendors. Great job.

Also, the great entertainment with the Barrel of Death and stunt jumping was gone. They has a steel cage show, which was entertaining for five minutes and did not make up for the loss of the other entertainment. Also, the manufacturers largely pulled out too. Indian, Harley, Yamaha, Ducati had some bikes there but not the full lineup. Very disappointing.

The attendance was good...felt like at least as many as last year and I thought it was a good crowd last year.

Cory West and Shelina were there. Shelina is one of the coolest ever and we are all fans of hers. Slick was there too, but we never caught up with him unfortunately.

We walked about 29.5 miles Friday thru Sunday. Three trips up to the Corkscrew. What a great weekend that went FAR too fast.

I will stick to my statement that it feels like MA is dying a slow death...

It's not just racing. Daytona Bike Week is a shadow of its former glory. Last time I was at Biketoberfest not a single manufacturer was present; only local dealers and vendors. Likewise, Americade in Lake George has been steadily declining over the years. I haven't been to either Sturgis, Laconia or Myrtle Beach in years so I can't report on them.

I have to correct my statement about the mediocre racing. Doesn't apply to the Super Hooligans class. I like the idea they have about bringing in different bikes. Reminds me of the Daytona Sportbike class when the 1125R and other twins were racing the 600s. Different bikes with different strengths can make for some interesting racing..plus Shelina races in this class, so it of course got more of our attention. It is the closest points race in all the classes as well (I believe). Will be following this class more closely. Looks like MA is putting more content up on YouTube, like most of the other series.

I question the validity of the whole thing. It was an 8 lap race, meaning Bautista was losing 6 seconds a lap to the leader?

Thanks! I see those were essentially showroom stock bikes with slick tires and a race exhaust as the only modifications.

Strange there was a mix of V2s and V4s in the race. I wonder how it was decided who rode what machine? I plan to check out the race after work tonight.

I think they ran it like MotoAmerica Superbike... One race, but two different classes being judged separately.

I'm thinking Bautista didn't want to take any stupid chances to win a race that doesn't mean anything... he's got a shot at the WSBK title after all!

I still haven't watched it, but that would make sense to me....that race is kind of like an all-star game in other pro sports. Pretty meaningless in the big scheme of things.

I was watching on Live+ and got a quick chill when I heard the tire noise while the cameras were panning on Petrucci. In the replay, Jake was on the ground behind the tumbling bike, but then got hidden by guardrails. Next time he appeared, he was AHEAD of the now-disintegrated bike! He took quite a ride. Bet he's hurting today!

Yeah, Greg and JP both talked about "tire noise" but I haven't seen anything regarding what actually happened. All I've seen was "Jake crashed out." Well "DUH!!!" We all saw that... but WHY? What happened??

My wife Debra and I were there, parked on the turn before the one where he crashed. There were no screens, and and we couldn't hear the crash because the 4-8th place bikes were just coming around our corner. JAke Gagne had an eight second lead over the third place rider and Petrucci was only a second or two behind him. We were surprised Petrucci was all by himself on the next lap. I didn't see what happened 'til I got home. Gagne was incredibly fast both days. The day before on the same corner we were at, I noticed he lifted the front on corner exit every single lap.
