PS--There was no contact at all in the last corner. That pass by Rins was clean and as slick as could be...

I thought your brake lever comment was for the British round, not the round two weeks prior at the Red Bull Ring.

Wow. If FP2 is any indication, the Misano round could be intriguing. Yamahas look fast. Misano is one of my favorite tracks. Look forward to the weekend!

Well, it was like this all day:

...Until it wasn't -

There's a lot of respect between these two, with absolutely top shelf sportsmanship being shown by each towards the other.

Marquez says that Quartararo is the man to beat. Quartararo is thrilled to be running neck and neck with the 7-times world champion. It's reminiscent in some ways of Marquez' rookie season.

The Anthony household will be watching the Frenchman very closely, while we shake our heads about Lorenzo...

Marquez sure like to park it in corners in front of his faster competition. Interesting strategy.

I loved the racing between the two of them...I was hoping Vinales would keep up and be there at the end. The moto 3 was a crash fest. Only 16 bikes left of 30...

I haven't watched Moto 3 yet (too much football), but it seems like it might be off the hook.

I saw this assessment of the Rins-Marquez battle at Silverstone, but it also is very applicable to the Turn 14 incident where Fabio lost all his momentum checking up to avoid crashing into the parked Marquez. I think if Fabio was on the outside line, as opposed to the inside line, he might have been able to win the race (unless Marquez ran him off the track on the exit, which is not out of the question.) Marquez obviously (intentionally?) slowed to defend the inside line with his point and shoot Honda.

"The really clever way to compensate for a lack of corner-exit grunt is to hold back at the entry to a corner, so you don’t get slowed at the apex by the slower bike in front. By holding back for a moment you give yourself extra room, so you can run through the corner faster. And if you do it just right you will pass your rival on the way out of the corner, using corner speed to beat brute horsepower."

I don't think the Yamaha was down on acceleration versus the Honda, so that makes Fabio winning even more plausible. This could be the next great rivalry in MotoGP.

It's called "tactics".

And I think you're right about the Yamaha being on par with the Honda. It's going to make for some very interesting races in the future.

Zarco's out.

He'd be best back on a Yamaha or the Suzuki as his riding style is more suited to those bikes. Zarco on the KTM was almost as disastrous as Lorenzo on the Honda.

I think what you meant to say is, "disastrous as Lorenzo on any bike, including the Yamaha".

Ever since he gave up completely

Of course, the argument could be made that he gave up before then, and neither Yamaha would have been so well placed if Marquez hadn't 7 DNF's in 2015.

It's really unfortunate that he's doing so poorly. And when I say unfortunate, that's being charitable because every picture of him in the off season is at a party or driving a car or doing something non-motorcycle related. Meanwhile, the Marquez brothers are both training. Constantly. Dirt bikes. Ice racing. Mountain bikes. Working out. Swimming. All. Year. Long.

Dedication. Lorenzo doesn't have it.

It's going to be nice to see Zarco back on something other than that KTM, he was fire on the Yamaha.

Lorenzo has fallen into the pit that many/most pro athletes do....letting the big money get in front of the routine that got them the big contract in the first place.

I believe it takes a special kind of person to have the same dedication to the sport both pre and post big money. Rossi, Marquez, Tom Brady, etc all fall in that category.

That's one way of looking at it, however no matter what it's some dangerous stuff. Parking it in a corner invites a collision. Marquez just banks on the fact that his rival will check up as opposed to taking himself or the both of them out. Dovi has figured it out pretty well. I would guess Fabio will as well.

One could just as easily argue that not watching what's happening in front of you also invites a collision.

Marquez did the same thing for multiple corners on multiple laps at Silverstone when Rins pimped him at the line. Maybe Rins has enough time to figure out the plan that worked so beautifully. Fabio was only behind Marquez for a couple laps and was obviously caught off-guard when Marquez parked it. Tactics? Yeah, perhaps. Questionable tactics for sure.

I hope so. Right now he's the only one with half a prayer.

Questionable tactics? According to who?

Certainly not Race Direction, because the moves are clean.

Me. The announcers. Anyone who isn't a Marquez fanboy.

Race direction won't intervene unless it crosses the line. Just because they didn't get involved certainly doesn't mean it wasn't questionable.

The announcers don't make the rules, and neither do you.

Rules are rules. The line is where it is. Racing is hard. I'm just as much a fan of Rossi and Lorenzo. Unfortunately for both of them, their time has passed. I feel like Rossi could possibly squeeze out one more championship, but it's highly unlikely in the face of the competition like Quarteraro and Marquez.

Marquez haters just can't stand it when the truth is placed in front of them and it doesn't match their vision.

Race starts in 21 minutes.

Talk about a clean sweep... Nobody even got close.

How about Dovi coming back from 10th to 2nd, and Miller bringing it to 3rd?

Good stuff there... Too bad for Fabio, I think that just came down to a bad tire choice.

Who is the GOAT? I guess it depends on how you look at it:

I'd still like to see both entered in the Springfield Mile and see if either could make the Main.

It would definitely be an interesting race.

Today, it was Quateraro who took the pole position in beautiful form... and set the fastest lap record in the circuit's second year.

Marc lowsided in what could have been the pole setting lap at the end of qualifying, but it was not to be. He'll start from third, and a good contest will be had. The three guys on the front row are all well suited for victory tomorrow.
