My, my, yet another virgin subtopic for me to ravish...

Lotsa talk going on under both the Blast and MO' POWER subtopics regarding my latest delusion, namely the Blast!-powered 2001 500cc SC-PPG attempt I am planning.

Inexpensive, as evaluated. The hardest and most expensive part is fab'ing the sidecar.

Stay tuned. Stay enthralled. Stay confused. Stay skeptical. Stay bemused. Roll over. Play dead.

PPiA: No official decision on events made yet, but I'd bet World of Speed (September) is likely, Speedweek (August) and World Finals (October) are maybes. Speedweek is miserable, 375+ entrants and 110+ temps, but it's also the place to be to get visibility.

How? Well, the team decided to make the defense of our 1000cc classes our top priority. There's room for improvement in all those records, particularly the fuel classes which were run on gasoline, and there's two other very good teams with those records in their gunsights.

Not to say we won't do something else, but ONLY if it can be done without interfering with our 1000cc effort and also it needs to have minimal impact on team finances, which we're hoping will be easier for 2001. There may be a way, it's under investigation.

Thanks for your support and Merry Christmas to the Moltmans!

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all supporters. As well as everyone who bought a shirt or a cap or a patch or a poster or even just generally wished us good luck.

I'll tell you what, I've done a fair amount of racing in my day, but nothing anywhere near as special as this deal. Having the support of so many terrific people made this something far beyond a typical race effort. This was a group effort and a group success and that's something that stands head and shoulders above individual accomplishments. It makes it worthwhile.

Knowing so many people were pulling for us, it gave us lots of motivation to try hard. Things didn't always look so great during the development of the bike, but it was the power of having all y'all behind the effort that made it happen.

Thank god we had Axtell, no way we could've developed the bike in that timeframe without them. Their knowledge on all things motor made the difference between failure and success. Anytime you get the chance, shake Ron Dickey and Joe George's hands, these two contributed one hell of a lot to the effort. Better yet, buy Axtell products! You'll win on two fronts, you'll help the outfit that helped us and you'll get the best products made.

Battle2win, ATC, Badweb, ASB, the Nallins, Don McCaw, Gary Stolzenburg, Baseline, Cap & Andy at Homecoming, Cap coming to my house to help, the core team and all they did, Erik, Leslie, I could go on for hours. It took a lot of things all coming together, more than I can mention here, but ultimately it all happened because the Buell community stepped up and made it happen. I'm honored and humbled that I got to be a part of it.

Okay, I'll quit flooding the page with pictures. You can see lots more at the Team Elves web site. Better yet, come to the flats next year and see it in person!

Thanks again everyone for making this happen.

To my knowledge, I've seen 3 write ups so far about the LSR. Hot Rod Bikes too, I think.

Much as I'd like to, we can't give a set of trophies to everyone who supported the Team Elves land speed record effort in '00 ... but, you guys deserve'em, these records were set because of your support.

In lieu of that, though:

trophies

Here's a set of virtual trophies for everyone.

For the time being at least, clicking on that pic should open up a 1024x768 of the same picture.

Just to keep this section fresh and updated......we've posted the "State of The Elves -2001" on the TEAM ELVES website.

One of the interesting features we'll be adding this year (Stuart...based on your earlier question this may interest you) is a "Run Your Own Buell" program. We'll have a webpage dedicated to the step-by-step preparations you'll need to do prior to leaving for Bonneville. We'll have a dedicated "Run Your Buell" Elf-Pen where two Elves (one for tech prep / one for walking you through admin issues) will be on hand to help.

Couple other fun features in the works....and YES...you asked for it and you'll get patches !

Hey, I think someone with an 88" Axtell motor ought to come to Bonneville with us this fall and stomp these two records:

MPS-PG 158.945
MPS-PF 157.604

Both were set in '00 by Carl's Speed Shop.

Hey, if Axtell can put together a 1000cc motor that whups these numbers, it ought to be cake for 1450cc. Could probably even do it with something that's very streetable.

Who could we get ?

Aaron, I have the MPS-PG record of 158.9 being held by Top Gun.

Yeah, Pammy. Get up, lets go.

Somebody needs to get off their butt and do this! C'mon, all it takes is a big motor and a leather tuxedo.

An unfaired Buell ain't gonna do 160. Or is Aaron offering up his chassis?

Trip...don't underestimate...I can do an easy 130 on my unfaired bike, going up-hill(the bridge)with a cross wind, and hauling my big butt....and I definately wasn't full throttle. I can do a quick 140 on flat land before I suck the carb dry.

But you are right, my bike is not at all aerodynamic....
