Well Springfield just happened and the Indians won again. Crusty you need to get your house deal done so you can get back to your more important duties, reporting on dirt track races in person. From what I can discern Indian has employed the best riders the question is are they building the best bikes? I find it hard to believe that their bike is this much better than the up till now invincible Kawasaki's on the mile tracks. Then there is good ole HD what in the hell is going on this is worse than the iron head XR's in 70 and 71. The first HD to finish was a XR in 9th. The first XG was 12th. Since all I could get was the end results maybe it is not as bad as it looks. But it is probably worse. |

46champ, I think what is going on is H.D. devoted to little interest and time in developing the new XG , heck they are not even doing the work it is Vance and Hines, now I certainly don't claim to know what goes on at Harley but from all the years I have observed them and read about their efforts in racing it seems when the going gets rough they quit, look at the MX team in the late 1970's or road racing in the mid nineties, and they only offered the xr engine in recent years as an engine kit only,, also when you walk into any H.D. dealership have you ever seen any thing race oriented? and lastly they had one of the best motorcycle engineering guys in Erik Buell and they discontinued the Buell line to focus on their core market ,and said things like (we don't want to be in the adrenaline market)so I personally think it is great that Indian is kicking their butts .and if they (Indian) come out with a street going version then it is all over for H.D. |

The Indian would be fools not to market a version of that engine in a hooligan street version. I was impressed at the speed of the Indian. They were 20 bike lengths ahead most of the time. Pretty impressive. I dislike all the model's of the Indian, but put that engine in a different style frame with some fully adjustable suspension and I'm in line for a new bike. |

I have a friend that keeps asking the same thing. And I keep telling him just the 3 are running right now. Is there a minimum number of bikes or engines that have to be sold to be legal? |

I was under the impression they are now available for race teams at $50,000 |

When I see one on the track, I'll believe it. I've seen lots of Kawasakis, a few Yahamas, a KTM and even a privateer XG750, but no Indians; other than the factory team. |
