I was a little disappointed it's not a true EBR motor, but still cool!

Neil you have to understand the politics behind the class. Most of the time the rules are run be Vance & Hines things happen because they want them to happen. The EBR body work was refused before the start of the 2014 season it has taken this long to approve a body change from a bike manufacture that has not existed for 5 years. Things are changing slowly even though the car counts in most of the classes at national events are down.

Oh, yeah, I get it, in this class of racing, it's the bodywork that identifies the "brand" of bike, with V-twins using S&S or Vance and Hines 160 CID motors, and Suzuki's using a billet 4 Cyl. 107 CID. I still think they are cool, but I'm wondering what a drag modified 1190 would do in the quarter.

Neil I think you could get a 1125 or 1190 motor punched out to 1250 or so in a lay down drag frame with wheelie bars with a 10 inch slick you should easily get into the 8's how far I don't know. You may only need a 7 inch slick until you put it on the bottle.

A Pro Stock engine produces in excess of 300 horsepower, required for mid 6 second runs. The only ways to make that much power from an 1190 engine would be to turbo/supercharge it, or feed it lots of giggle juice, or feed it nitro.

There is no way in hell the engine could stand up to that. Sorry, it is not robust enough.

Eight second passes are more reasonable, and could be done. Expensively, and be costly and time consuming to maintain.

My last 8 second drag bike cost 12K to build, with me doing most of the work, It cost 5K in maintenance and spares the last season I raced it. Speed is expensive, how much do you want to spend?

On the featured Pro Stock bike, George Bryce is the genius that brought Kosman and S&S together on the project. The old school Kawi and Suzuki based engines were going obsolete (remember the racing business has as a core, hobby racers that buy the product the companies produce, racing is only the way the companies put the products in front of the consumer), and the V-twin was the wave of the future. 160 cubic inches of "pushrod" two valve madness. The engine more closely resembles 1/4 of a pro stock car engine than a motorcycle engine. And it has real by gosh crank shaft and rods in it.

I stepped away from the sport some time ago, but still on occasion go to events and keep up with my old friends.

Drag racing is addictive. Scary fast today is too slow tomorrow. Speed and cost go up exponentially.

Being new to the sport, I'm learning what I can with what I've got, and having fun at the same time, win or lose... But the bike I have seems fairly predictable, fairly affordable, and really fun to ride! So I won't be racing on an 1190 any time soon.... Star Racing is a great ambassador for EBR, for the viewer market they reach, and I enjoy seeing their bikes on the web, even if they're not really EBR's. I hope more folks that race will post up stories and pictures, and share their experiences!
