Heres my Bonneville experience around 1984. First is turboed 350 cc Honda. Smallest IHI turbo I could get from Japan. Only saw a few lbs. of boost at 11000 rpm's but would have been a sure class record breaker as no one else in the class, but alas Bonneville rained out two years in a row. Following those two years I ran a turboed 1000 cc(980) BMW boxer twin and With Matt Capri's help at Luftmeister I ran only 150+ but ran out of gear(shaft drive with BMW's highest gear ratio at about 8000 rpm's. I actually had plenty of power at 15+ lbs of boost(pegged gage) and had to actually back off throttle when I hit the timing trap at the three mile marker. Engine had forged Venolia pistons, clearanced rods, heavy duty valve springs and pushrods. I utilized alcohol injection to supress detonation and engine ran flawlessly. Never on a dyno. Now to fast forward. My best wishes go out to FiremanJim and all those who will go fast soon at this next meet. I'm sad that I can't make this meet but will be there next year for sure but as a spectator only. Getting too old to race but love the Salt Flats. Good luck men. Go fast, stay safe and have fun. Think I'll go find some twisties and lament. Bob

Bob; that's is very cool. But why give up the "go fast" part. There ought to be a few more MPH in you : D

No such thing as too old for Bonneville. You need to see the age spectrum of drivers and riders.Come on out. That 350 would still be a class winner.I have a tiny IHI turbo off my Seca----????Jack Van Voast still rides hard and was there with his S-1 for 150 club.ChopPop was in mid 70's.

Bob,
Great stuff.
But,, in order to see it a bit easier, please go back and edit your post and put a "enter" between each picture.
That will place them vertically instead of having to scroll back and forth.

Cool stuff!

Brad

Brad, could you explain in a little more depth just what I should do. I went to edit but don't know exactly what you mean by placing an "enter" and just where. Thanks much, Bob

Bob,just hit the "enter" button on your key board after each image and it goes to the next line for you so your pics are vertically laid out.
