Looks like it's pissing down for qualifying!

Rossi for the win, buoyed up from his new two year contract with Yamaha, and the way he's earned it. Because earn he's had to do....

It's not raining now. Rossi is scrubbing wet tires on a dry track in FP4.

Andrea currently has the fastest lap 1:22:860

Can't see anyone staying even close to Marquez tomorrow unless it rains (HARD!). The only guy likely to give him a race is his team mate. Lorenzo and Rossi may fight over the third step but then Bradl always seems to wake up at this time when of year when contracts start to be put under riders noses (or are threatened to be snatched away).

Interesting comment during Moto2 qualifying was that Dominique Aegerter has been asked to ride at the Suzuka 8 hour by Suzuki. I wonder if they see him as a decent (and relatively cheap) MotoGP rider for their return next year rather than pay the over inflated amounts asked by current unhappy Ducati team members (plural!).

Aegerter did himself and his prospects no harm at all by grabbing pole for tomorrow either : ) WHo was the last Swiss rider to race at the top level in MotoGP?

Is there even a point in watching tomorrow's race?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Next month I'll get to see him win his TENTH consecutive race. Just end the stupid season NOW, it's pointless until the other teams have a chance to develop their packages more (and thanks to Dorna, the only ones who can are the ones who don't matter; the "Open Teams").

If Yamaha were SMART, they'd be pouring ALL of their resources into the engines they're providing for Aleix and Colin, but I haven't heard any inkling they were doing that.

Why? They should be pouring all their resources into the engines for the factory teams first adn the Tech 3 bikes second. The Forward team are just paying customers and thrid in line for upgrades. Without the soft tyre they would be midfield at best (Edwards still is). Espagaro is goo dbut not THAT good, and his record in all 3 classes isn't exactly stellar so far in terms of actual results (as opposed to promise shown). if you gave Bradley Smith and Pol the same soft tyres they would be as quick or quicker I'd bet.

I'm sorry, but I just can't understand this point of view.

Would you feel the same if it was Rossi/Lorenzo/Pedrosa/Stoner running away with every race, or are you just mad because it's a Honda? Would it be better for you if it was down to the wire every race, but MM93 still won? I really don't see how anyone watching MotoGP right now can be anything other than impressed by the performance being exhibited by the pairing of Repsol Honda and Marc Marquez. It may not make for a race you find particularly gratifying to watch, but everyone I regularly watch with (including some seriously dedicated JL99 fanboys) has shifted from disdain, to disgust, to bewilderment, and finally to a grudging admiration for the performance being thrown down each race. One friend has even begun rooting for Marquez to win every race. Think about that, if you can bear to contemplate it...one rider winning every round of MotoGP, during a time when there are still three former champions in the title chase.

That's history, man, and you get to see it being made.

Jamie's got some hair up his ass for Honda and Marquez also, I can't understand it.

This kid is, like you said, making history.

My wife and I each have a dollar up on the wall, it's a standing bet. When Marquez loses his first race, she gets my dollar.

Notice I said when, not if.

I fully expect him to lose at least one race, the odds are in favor of that.

BUT... if he doesn't I am going to frame these two dollars, and it will be my life's quest from that point forward to get them signed by Marc Marquez himself.

Matt, they CAN'T. They're forbidden by the rules to TOUCH the engines during the season. That was one of the penalties they pay for producing and using their own software. Did you forget that?

Marquez rises above brand loyalty, IMO.

To tame the worlds fastest bike and embarrass the finest riders in the world by large margins every week is incredible.

Look past the Honda logo and admire the talent.

Great call Matt, though if ever any more proof were needed to show the dominance of the Honda, this race was it.

Until Yamaha get on equal terms we are not going to see anyone beat Marquez in a straight fight. It's tiring to watch when the racing is as dull as dishwater for the top four best riders in the world. Tell me until you're blue in the face how great Marquez is, but he would not be winning every race if the Honda was not the best bike by far, which it is.

Crutchlow showed some metal today. Shame he got bumped back to tenth the last lap or so.

Pedrosa hasn't got a chance of ever beating his team mate. Today was his second chance being close enough to give it a go, and he didn't. He couldn't. Time for Pedrosa to move on as his alien status looks second best next to his team mate even when he's close enough than he usually is. This does him no favours, only serving to show he is second best when he's putting his best into it.

Lorenzo looked fast and smooth all weekend, but even he couldn't get close to Pedrosa, which says a lot about the Yamaha.

Honda has had their way in MotoGP for far too long. First, when Ben Spies was tearing up World Superbike for Yamaha they were instrumental in getting "The Rookie Rule" in place, which meant a rookie could NOT start on a factory team.

Of course, when their "Miracle Boy" was ready to move up from Moto2, they once again strong-armed Dorna into getting rid of the "Ben Spies Rule" so Marquez could start his career on the factory Honda squad. I guess it also helped that Marc had the right passport.

When Yamaha pretty much dominated the 990 era, they're the ones who forced that RIDICULOUS 800cc era on us (the 990s were "too fast"). So what happened? Boring, processional races that were even faster because the riders were making up the speed deficit in the turns which is FAR more dangerous than high speed in a straight line.

The list goes on and on. THAT'S why I hate Honda. They ALWAYS get their way no matter how stupid or ill advised it may be. I love it when it blows up in their faces, and I hate it when it actually works out for them. I want, no, NEED someone to knock them off their damned high horse, and do it QUICKLY.

Pwznor, when Marquez hits the front, you can turn off the TV. You KNOW who's going to win. As far as I'm concerned, that makes it "Dull as Dishwater." Watching any longer after that happens is just prolonging the torture.

Hell, when Marquez hits the SECOND spot you can turn off the TV. There'll be a thrilling MOMENT as he attacks for first place, but the script has already been written at that point, so there's really no point in watching any further.

Really? Black helicopters? Aren't there other threads for conspiracy theories?

And when Miracle Boy was ready to move up from Moto2, he was already a two-times world champion.

Hardly a rookie at that point.

As for Honda "getting their way", don't you think that when you constantly set the bar, you get to have some say in things?

History is written by the victorious.

Whatever would possess you to try and hold somebody back from achieving greatness?

Tell you what, just don't watch... since the conclusion is foregone and WSB is so great. Not as fast, but great.

Personally I like BSB better than WSB. You won't hear me whining about somebody winning races though. I'm pretty sure the point is to win.

Bottom line: EVERYBODY IS FOLLOWING THE SAME RULES.

IT'S TIRING TO WATCH WHEN THE RACING IS AS Dull as dishwater... my ass FOR THE TOP FOUR BEST RIDERS IN THE WORLD

Please don't quote me out of context if you're going to criticise my words ; )

I'm fairly certain all I saw today was a race procession where the top four bikes and riders raced proceeded almost flag to flag line astern with varying gaps of several seconds between them.

If this is the sort of racing procession you find more exciting than dull dishwater, please enlighten me as to what I missed so I too can enjoy what you're seeing.

Time Moto GP followed a similar mantra perhaps as the lower racing classes me thinks.

OK, then the victors make the headlines and the losers are footnotes. Have it your way.

On varying levels of machinery and team structures.....

Then perhaps they should change their machines and restructure their teams.

The RULES are the same for everybody within their class, are they not? So let them follow the rules and field a worthy combination of man and machine.
