If you throw enough shit out there, some of it is going to stick.

Funny thing is all the stuff we've thown has been the stuff that has stuck. Luck or just a good shot?

Just because the race team is getting some well deserved criticism isn't a reflection on the EBR factory or Erik Buell directly, unless he is running the team?
Some here think that any criticism or anything other than praise is just being disloyal and that we should all be happy clappy campers cheering loudly even when the bikes can't get past lap 1 or even into FP1.
maybe when they are getting in the way and lapped by 8th place riders we should all be waving our EBR flags saying what a great job they have done?

Perhaps we should applaud Geoff May for pulling off ciircuit because he didn't want to get in peoples way?

EBR may well suffer from the negative publicity and fallout of the 2014 WSb campaign, but the criticism I am making is purely of the WSb effort, not the road bike, the factory or the personnel there.

try to separate the two please ; )

I think neither of those.

But I've spent a lot of time with these folks over the past 30 years and know how they think.

They are winners.

I can name about 20 times, in the history of Buell, that things have been much, much gloomier.

But I've made choices in my own life . . . one of them was in 1987 when I got hooked up with Erik and The Elves (at a time when that entire group could fit in a station wagon.

They are winners. No matter how down they get, how dark the apparent outlook they can see and navigate toward the blue skies of success.

The first season in WSBK has not gone well. That's disappointing. But I was there as each of 4 XBRR's left the track during Daytona and I was there as Danny bounded from the podium and gave me a big hug after winning the championship.

The wheel goes round . . . on;y the small get off at the bottom, form a group and commiserate about how bad the gifted are for trying.

MikeyP posted, for the first time in a long time, yesterday . . . some folks should find and read that post.

Any negative publicity will be limited to enthusiasts entrenched in WSBK . . . . as previously noted . . . WSBK has precious little to do with sales, less to do with the success of EBR.

I'm betting that, largely as a result for the tough year in 2014, that next year will be a lot of fun . . . . I hope to be at a number of the races next year and am betting it's going to be a blast.

There will always be a group of folks working their asses off chasing success, even when it seems so damned elusive . . and there will always be a group of folks sitting at keyboards spouting "I told ya so".

I believe there are two types of folks out there; those that think positively and those that think negatively most of their time and on most things. I have always thought positively and worked on my goals that way and have had a way better life because of it. So I will choose to think positively about Erik, the Elves, EBR and even my own Buell motorcycles, wait patiently and enjoy whatever happens and ride into the eternal canyon with a tremendous smile on my face. I predict that most future low budget first year team with a brand new bike with riders that have never ridden WSBK won't do well their first year.

Hi to all. I agree with the statement Trojan made about faulting the very poor results in WSBK and not EBR or the production bike itself.But I do believe that such a poor season so far will hurt sales ,What do I base this on ? just read the forums that are geared toward people that Do know what WSBK stands for Cycle News ,Crash.net World superbike ,to name a few there is a lot of negativity and certainly some very misinformed people but the fact is EBR still has a lot of people based on problems they saw with Buells that would never consider owning one .I would love to see them succeed but they have a long road ahead and if this embarrassment in racing continues it will be tough

I for one am not interested in critics or their criticism, but and am always willing to entertain a thoughtful and constructive critique.

I still believe in the frame of mind that prompted this statement;

We quite publicly lost a lot of good men and blew up a few rockets on the pad, lost a few more in the heavens, but the goal was eventually achieved. It could not have been done without what was learned from the practical faliures that theoroticians couldn't be expected to predict.

WSbk may well be EBR's moon shot. They are lead by and composed of people who take Pres. Kennedy's challenge to heart. They choose do it not because it is easy, but because it IS hard..."because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too."~JFK

I have to respect that, so while their first effort may be a flaming mess that never got off the proverbial ground(Apollo 1), unless you have the magic formula for nomex in this case brake pad material, or are testing how to get more power and revolutions out the powerplant, there's no need to point out and whine about what we can all clearly see.

Pointing out the same problem over and over again...was the problem resolved, did the results change?

I see you do not list your occupation so I assume you are a clinical psychologist. With that said you must surely understand that nobody in all of BadWeb or anywhere on the net has ALL the facts. Mostly its all speculation. They only think they know EXACTLY what is going on at EBR. If anybody actually does they are from another world as we have not gotten to the point of reading minds yet or even perceiving what is on the mind of other folks. Might be facts or not, but there is nothing wrong with stimulating conversation or debate, or even argument. Especially if doing so draws us together for a common cause.

Your posts indicate that you have inside knowledge at EBR. If so, please tell us that EBR is resolving the well stated engine shortcomings or not. We are all supporters of Eric and all of EBR, but EBR's silence on their development efforts invite the negative speculation read here. Specifically, will EBR introduce new cylinder and cylinder head castings?

It's amazing how many of you miss the big picture here. You're lucky you've got something to talk about at all. Two new models, more coming, EBR in WSBK, EBR going to BSB super stock with Cory, IOM, Macau, Larry going rouge wild card in WSBK, all from a company that just released their first mass produced model back in October of 2013. Yeah, performance isn't there but if EBR was winning already, this thread wouldn't be nearly as long and you have more time on your hands. As for Court, he always has inside info, more than any of us do, that's for sure.

With 3 bikes competing this weekend, I'd guess they figure it's acceptable to take risks with Geoff's machine. If it blows up 5 laps in, it wouldn't be good, and would be a bad showing in front of the home audience, but it wouldn't make any difference to followers outside of the US since they've apparently written EBR off anyway.

OTOH- if Geoff has just one good finish (say top 10) I imagine a lot of people would sit up and take notice.

In the AMA race in 2013 Qualifying 1. May did a 1:25.248. Will be interesting to see how the WSBK EBR version does against that time.

The RS was used for that time and is MUCH lighter than the RX so the times will be slower than the RS. Larry can't even use the Mag wheels, they had to switch him to the aluminum production style wheels.
