^This is why it's called racing and not cruising. All forms of racing are like this except for possibly of endurance racing. As far as the AMA goes, they need to be boycotted or something. What a bunch of mindless asshats for not giving a crap. They have access to weather radar and they didn't do squat. There is no excuse for not being safe, NONE!

I will go out on a limb and say this is the last year we will see AMA road racing under current management. I really can't see sponsors or teams wanting to return to what this has become. Particularly since the defectors like Army NG and Geico immediately jumped on board with the Superbike Shootout series with better results. Fanschoice is better than nothing, but not much. Rider turn out is decreasing, fans aren't coming, no TV or even net sponsors, hemoraging local sponsors, I doubt DMG could even secure a venue outside of Daytona for next year. the white flag is waving on the season and the series.

They aren't sponsoring a team but I thought I saw them (ARNG) listed as being one of the contributing sponsors of the series. I'll have to go dig that article back up.

Just wish that the video could have covered Larry and Cory at some points in the race or at the end.

Cory had a great hard charging ride after the red flag restart. He came from pit lane and really put his head down and passed a lot of bikes. Sad that only 16 bikes where on the grid. Very proud of the EBR riders. The bikes sounded great and seemed to be pretty strong in some areas. Not sure why Cory pitted quickly on the warm up lap before the restart after the red flag. Oh well, whatever it was didn't really seem to hamper him.

Filmore is strong on the KTM, its making the power and he's riding it hard, it just doesn't seem to have the range.

Dennis_c, it must be you. I have no problems watching fanschoice.tv through Safari browser on an aging MacBook which is connected to a VCR via the Display port on the MB.

What is your PC and web viewing config? Perhaps more knowledgeable folks here can troubleshoot the problem.

There is no better indication of the gap between AMA racing and WSB than using Chris Filmore and the KTM as an indicator. He is doing really well in AMA and obviously riding the pants off it, but the bike was deemed way too uncompetitive for WSB and was never used (despite KTM originally aiming to enter with the RC8R when it was released).

A few years ago there were two RC8R's raced in BSB (which ran much higher tuning specs than German Superbike or AMA at the time) but they never bothered the top 10 and were soon withdrawn.

There's currently a much deeper field in WSBK, and the WSBK tech specs allow significantly higher performance.

Is that the "gap" you're implying?

Do not the KTM and EBRs remain a couple seconds off the lead pace in AMA SBK? Compare the EBRs to the CEV class leaders in WSBK. Much different than AMA SBK?

You mean the EVO class leaders? They are not eh same spec as the EBR bikes in WSb though are they. If EBR run as a factory superbike entry then you have to compare their times with the other superbikes,. not the EVO brigade (another reason why I said they would have been better served racing in the EVO class to begin with).

AMA has probably 3 or 4 very fast riders on factory spec bikes. The rest are not at the same level (no offence intended).

AMA racing also has no top level Hondas, BMW's, Aprilias or Kawasakis so the stats can get a bit skewed when comparing WSB to AMA racing. Where would Filmore or Pegram be finishing of the depth of field was greater and the variety of top level four cylinder machines increased?

The fact that the Suzuki is still pretty competitive in AMA compared to WSB also highlights this lack of depth.

I hope that DORNA or someone else can buy up the US seeries soon and do something to attract the other manufacturers back (as well as fans and investment) other wise AMA is increasingly just a quiet backwater in world superbike racing unfortunately, rather than the leading series that it once was. Unless something happens soon AMA riders will continue have to come to Europe and race in BSB, CEV or WSS to get noticed.

PJ Jacobsen is doing very well at the moment in WSS and got his first WSS podium this weekend. He is definitely in line for a decent superbike ride soon I think : ) he wouldn't be getting anywhere near this attention in AMA even if he was winning every week.

The KTM is a classic ole school twin with HECK of rider in Filmore on it. Still he is not on the same pace as a Hayes or Cameron B. The EBR's engine is still ole school but has more topend than the KTM. With in the AMA Hayes is clearly an alien. Add the fact that the R1 is and I4 that thinks its a twin, with the full backing of the only investing factory in the AMA and you see why things are the way they are. The RC8R would struggle for the same reason a 1098 would topend power. The way of the world in racing is the quickest of the quick riders run very near the front on just about anything close to the performance of the quickest machines. There peformance on the less than quickest machines normaly earns them a ride on the quickest machines and then its light out. Put Hayes or Cameron B on the KTM and EBR and they would still both be knocking on the podium door. Put Filmore on the R1 and he would still be knocking on the same door. Larry just isn't as quick as those guys. Corey West may have some room to grow on but even then would he be Hayes type quick? not sure. Back in the Day Nicky Haden was clearly an alien in the AMA but in motogp he has proved to be a consistent midpacker. Hayes was never as quick as Hayden. Would Hayes be a front runner in WSBK, I don't know, Yamhaha returns next year, we may get to find out.

That's what I love about motorcycle racing! more than any other motorsport its equal parts rider skill, machine capability, rider to machine harmony, and machine to track harmony! There are too many variables to to have an apples to apples to comparison.

Saddly or mercifully depending on how you look at it, I don't think the AMA will be arround in Roaddacing next year except for Daytona. I don't see Barber or Miller paying to have the franchise next year with NO TV coverage, fanschoice.tv while novel was a stop gap, which has turned bust.

>>> If EBR run as a factory superbike entry then you have to compare their times with the other superbikes,.

I don't have to do anything of the sort. Fact is that though the EBR is entered as a SBK, it is reportedly running CEV class engine.

Much has been made about the difference in the EBR entries' performance between AMA SBK and WSBK competition. The point of the question was to find if there really is any significant difference. If WSBK CEV machinery equates rougly to AMA SBK then comparing the EBR's performance relative to the two similar classes is perfectly logical. And there may in fact be not so much of a performance difference given the validity of that logic.

You can debate the team decision to run under full SBK versus CEV. Logical reasoning on either side, but that's an entirely different point.
