Most likely Hank your right. But its most likely accurate assumption for all to read between the lines

the RS is homologated for AMA Pro
the RX is homologated for SBK

correct?

I don't remember seeing the RX on AMA's OK list

If anyone is still even interested, with the official deadline now past , there are only 13 superbikes entered in the Daytona 200 event(So far, late entry fees apply until the 21st) and even fewer in the last 4 rounds of the year. Still no TV deal announced and no Cory West.

Late entry deadline is Feb 24, not 21. Don't give up on Cory just yet.

I don't think anyone is giving up on Cory. It's the AMA we are not so sure about.

I thought they were still running 600s in the 200 this year? They're not going full-honk superbikes till 2015??

Damn, I wish I could sponsor that kid. If I ever win the lottery....

Why wouldn't the RX not be homologated for AMA when it's a production motorcycle more so than the RS ever was or is it just that the AMA would have to file paperwork for it from EBR?

I am sure that the homologation of the RX is in process and will be approved by Daytona.

BTW I was personally involved in the homologation of the Moto Guzzi Lemans in 1986 when I sponsored Cory's dad . We were going to Daytona and wanted to run both Bott and the 200, but Moto Guzzi had not bothered to homologation it. At that time it wasn't a big deal, but there was a $500 fee. Moto Guzzi first balked at the idea because of the fee and didn't think it was worth while. I offered to pay the fee and then they changed their mind and payed it.

We placed 6 th in BOTT that year after Marvin overshot turn one and had to play catchup. He qualified 56th in a field of 80 in the 200, one of only 3 twins that qualified. The other 2 were factory Ducatis. He worked up to about 21 after about 22 laps but suffered a DNF with a strange valve train failure. There is picture of Marvin with me standing behind him at Daytona in 1986 on my profile page. He is 208. 88 is my friend the late Mike Harth.

I am sure that Cory would appreciate the support as he did when Badweatherbikers came to his rescue last year, but we are talking about a lot more money this time. I am optimistic that things are going to work out though.

The RX will be homologated for the supposed 2015 season. Even so I will only be at Daytona and unless they wind up on youtube, I won't see the rest of the races because there isn't any word on the TV deal that was supposed to be good through 2015. I notice KTM has not entered yet either. I fully expected the superbike grid to be at least 20 bikes. 13 is pathetic.

If any "Help Cory" efforts take place . . . . I'm all over that. I'm thrilled to see him riding an EBR and he's an exciting and talented young man . . .

Poor Cory West, part of his job with EBR requires riding 1190RX's in the twisty mountian roads of Arkansas with some othe EBR employes.

BTW look for press release on Cory very soon.

Any one notice that the deadline for Daytona has passed and their are only 15 entries in superbike. Among the missing is Chris Filmore and the KTM Squad.
Looks like the battle of the Vtwins will remain just two.

That had to be an awesome time!

Court, Cory and I know those roads like the back of our hands. I even used to outrun him there, but that was a long time ago. I am sure they had a great time chasing Cory .

Classax, I would wager that there will be more than 15 bikes on the grid at Daytona.

I believe you are right, what concerns me is the number of teams who have serious doubts about whether to run or not this 'season'.

Good article from Mat Oxley on the state of AMA racing (and rumour of a possible buyer for the series...)

Why buy it when you the CMRA and WERA have already begun to lay the ground work for a truly national series. Why buy it when at this point it would be nearly as easy to secure the promotion for a replacement series. If the tracks have to choose between AMA and a new cheaper series, right now the AMA will loose at all but Daytona.

Well I hope someone steps up to the plate. I thought Ulrich would be great at running it. I know hes got something brewing for in between AMA rounds but haven't heard anything as of late on that.

Jonathan Palmer has made a huge success of BSB and obviously think he can do the same for the AMA series. Who knows if it will be cheaper or more expensive than the opposition?
He is very astute so I don't think he would touch it unless he is pretty much guaranteed success.

quote:

n recent years the US Superbike series has withered from its usual 10 or 11 rounds to seven last year and just five this season, with not a single race on the west coast, the spiritual home of US motorcycling. American fans – especially Californians who’d rather not have to cross the country to see a round of their national championship – have reacted angrily to the new calendar, calling the series organisers “morons” and the five-round series “a sham”.

With all due respect to the author, *&*& you.

The US is not the west coast, and the west cost does not define the US.

(The rest of the article may be good, but that particular paragraph was ignorant and insulting).

Dana, I have been aware of this story for some time. My source is a close friend of mine that is a close friend of Jim France, so I am sure that something is being discussed. Whether something will come of it is another matter.

Jim France [& his DMG] could've been the behind-the-scenes hero who saved US road racing

that DID NOT happen, & they're accountable!

Well maybe he can have a part in saving it by passing it on to someone that will do a better job. Of course we can easily be Monday-morning quarterbacks, but we did not put up the money and are not privy to all the problems they faced.
