The first 2 races are 6 days away,and a few other teams have new bikes with riders that have never been to Phillip Island before either,and are way faster.

One thing about Phillip Island is that it doesn't SEEM like it but it's a VERY fast HP racetrack.

That said... 8 seconds is a ways.

Philip Island, is NOT a HP track.

I hope tommorrow is going to be better.....and they fix their technical issues......

Is there a way , they do not qualify for the race ?
What is the limit for qualifying?

Agreed, start finish straight aside Philip Island is not a power track. Checa set the lap record last year on the "uncompetitive" Ducati.
8 seconds is a long way and it is a shame that they didn't get out for the afternoon session - are these things related?

As Vagelis says, PI is not a HP track but is a fast flowing track that SHOULD suit twin cylinder machines.

I think the EBR team have just been caught out by lack of testing and a late start to their campaign due to lack of parts. It doesn't help either that they have decided to go for two riders who have no experience of any WSB tracks either, so every weekend will be a steep learning curve for riders and technicians, and they will constantly be playing catch up throughout the year.

You can't blame being slow on being a new team and new tyres. MV are just as new and 6 seconds quicker unfortunately : ( Lets hope that the EBR squad can get up top speed to at least beat the EVO bikes by the tinme race day comes along.

Like I said its not unexpected. Its really the perfect storm. New machines, new tires, new tracks are going to mean much slower times for at least a few races. PI in all likelihood will be a shake down weekend. Blown motors is disconcerting from the standpoint of limited parts availability. They'll be ok and running mid pack by Friday. P.S. The bikes look stunning.

Just heard a sound clip of the RX race bike idling in the pits from the Assie EBR FB page. #1 It sounds nothing like the RS #2 The devil himself would proud of the sound this machine emits.

AT those kinds of speeds, looks like they're trying to get fuel mapping down and some major suspension adjustments for those new race tires. Just a bunch of data acquisition runs. I would assume some of the RS stuff is a carry over to the RX.

They need an extra fuel tank under the seat , so that a total of 24liters of fuel is carried by the motorcycle....

Unless I read the rules wrong, the season engine use count doesn't start until tech inspection for the first practice of round one. Teams can blow up motors and make changes in testing prior to that and not have it count against them.

Yates hit on something that really has surprised me about the whole EBR effort. I fully expected THEM(us)to race as an EVO spec team, but THEY(we)are going whole hog in superbike. Gutsy! A move that either indicates a foolish arrogance or excellent confidence about the quality of your bike. Which it is, we shall soon see. What is quite scary actually, is that the EVO class bikes are ONLY about two seconds off the lap record pace of the the superbikes.

I think they will get quite a bit sorted between now and Friday. If I were May or Yates, there is no way I'd try to push for the same near lap record pace in the morning session on a bike, track and tire profile I had never ridden before. Why risk throwing it down the road without getting any set up data. Remember, nearly every other team in the test is on their third two day test session of the season. The EBR riders' pace will go up markedly with some real practice sessions.

Looks like the EBR team cut 3 seconds off their lap times in the morning session. Again if its me, I don't think I'm pushing all out just yet. I would think we will see another 2 seconds off their times by the end of the day as the confidence levels in the bike, tires and track familiarity improve.

I think that the most interesting thing in the. interview was Aaron saying he signed a 2 year contract with the second being for World Superbike. That essentially means that more than a year ago, WSB was in the plan. Probably not long after the 2012 AMA season

That looks a bit better.
Like last year there seem to have been plenty of casualties from this test. Loris Baz and Sylvain Barrier the most significant in terms of the championship.
Good to see PJ Jacobsen near the front in WSS - I'd love to see him challenging Sofuoglu this year but Jack Kennedy looks like he won't make the race at the weekend.

I would like the EBR to be closer to the MVAgusta.... EBR is 2sec off the MV at the moment

They are both new entries , new teams , but I would have thought the EBR to be more race ready because of their AMA efford of the previous years......

A decent improvement by the EBR team but still a long way off the top Superbike guys and behind all but one of the EVO bikes. With just two days of official practice/qualifying left until race day it will be interesting to see how much closer they can get. I think the long break between Philip Island and round 2 will be a busy time for the team.

Alex Lowes showed his class with a blistering time this morning. I think he will give his more experienced team mate some sleepless nights this year : )

Good result for PJ Jacobsen in WSS too, although I really don't see anyone troubling Soguoglu for another title this year.

Interesting to read that EBR have to use Aluminium wheels for the WSBK , while the AMA allowed magnesium !

Also the new rules that limits the number of engines , seems to level the field.....

The Suzukis are very competitive now , with superfast riders !

The speed advantage of the Aprilias is OVER...... Their engines are detuned compared to the last years

WSBK looks very good for this year..... The new rules are actualy in the right direction : Reducing costs , without favouring any particular manufacturer ! ! !
