Good move by Suzuki to recruit Young. Hope he does well : )
he has experience of the track and the Suzuki so should hit the ground running at least.
It could be the best way of attracting a decent WSB ride next year too (although there are more top riders than rides already in that class!).

Just saw that Velocity channel will start televising Euro-Sports TV programming including BSB but not WSBK races starting Sept. 28! Maybe next year they'll have WSBK.

Velocity Channel Announces "Eurosport on Velocity" and Brings Europe's Leading Sports TV Channel to U.S. Viewers for the First Time.

Eugene Laverty said in an interview in SBK
he has only seen Laguna Seca in tv and he thinks the track is very technical.

are you kidding me.
He needs to get motogP for XBOX 360.
and he can memorize each turn.
heck Im so good I don't crash at corkscrew anymore, lol

Lots of time being spent on the Dyno in the Jordan camp.

It isn't going to be so much dyno time they need, but time on the Pirelli WSB spec tyres.

Laguna isn't a horsepower track so they would be better served concentrating on chassis setup really.

I don't know if they will try to convert any of the bikes to WSb spec electronics or engines, but it may not be worth doing for this round only.

Most likely be hanging with Cory.

If you mean in the videos it was Danny Bilensky and some of the footage was shot with Cory's dad former AMA Superbike rider Marvin West riding. It was shot around Cory's hometown Eureka Springs, AR, my favorite place to ride.

Roger Lee and Slick are 3rd and 4th fastest in the first practice session! Blake young is 19th. It would really be nice to see some AMA Superbike riders kick some SBK ass. I get tired of hearing how deficient the AMA series is and how much better the SBK riders are.

Take a look at the later times. The AMA guys are already at full stretch, having raced and tested there regularly, while the WSB teams are just dialling in having never visited the circuit since 2004.

As the weekend goes on I would expect to see the gap widen between the top WSB riders and the top AMA runners, not because of talent but because of spec.

There are undoubtedly some top guys in AMA Superbike, but the depth of talent isn't there like in WSB.

Of course AMA leading riders would be expected to figure in teh top ten a a track they use regularly. If WSb suddenly arrived at Brands Hatch, Sugo or Cadwell park after a gap of 10 years I would expct fast locals to go well there too ; )

Rio,
Brian Cretu was testing the 1190 for the Maucau GP. I was thinking he was replacing DD on the Motosport RS team

Since DD is still riding for them on a Kawasaki and they have a couple of Supersport riders to look after I would say that unless they were supplied with some more people and money they probably have about all they can take care of.

Matts point is taken but he was incorrect in saying all they need is a afternoon to learn the track. Nobody learns Laguna in a day. Matt also thought Young would do well and be the top finishing US rider..... he crashed and is a ways back in the grid. Roger had some issues otherwise he may be setting better then 14th.

None the less we have one US riders on SPEC AMA bike in the top ten one just out outside of it on the starting grid.

WSBK riders still have not gone faster then AMA track record set in 2007 by Ben Spies a 1:23.105, without a Q tire , fastest race lap is a 1:23.614 set in 2007 as well.

I find it interesting how much closer together the WSBK times are, Hays would be 4th on the grid - 7th best time after this morning, very impressive, but the next AMA guy would not crack the top twelve.

Nobody learns Laguna in a day. Matt also thought Young would do well and be the top finishing US rider..

Tom Sykes had never been to laguna before Friday.....he wins race one.

Blake Young is the highest place US finisher in race one as both Hayden and Eslick crash out.

if you would like next weeks lottery numbers give me a call ; )

WSBK riders still have not gone faster then AMA track record set in 2007 by Ben Spies a 1:23.105, without a Q tire , fastest race lap is a 1:23.614 set in 2007 as well.

Guintoli did a 1'22".638 in Superole, and the top five WSB riders were under Spies time.

Both Davies (1'23.581) and Sykes (1'23.632) both beat the previous best race lap time in what was a very disrupted 1st race. provided weather remains stable I can see Sunday race times being faster.

You have a reading problem ? Spies did his time on a race tire, AMA did not use Qualifying tires . Do you have a math problem ? When did 1:23.632 become faster then 1:23.614 ?

Marquez also won the first time he raced at Laguna.
When you good ,you are good.
I hope Sikes gets a GP riders, he has done wonders for Kawasaki.
He will take smith bike if he does not improve

Spies did his time on a soft race tyre.

WSB doesn't have qualifying tyres either, they use soft tyres that are sometimes referred to as qualifiers but they were never meant to be. They are actually soft race tyres.

You cannot accurately compare lap times with different tyres and specs from different years, weather and track conditions are different every time the riders take to the circuit. Laguna has suffered from surface problems over the last couple of years and is a lot more bumpy now than in 2007 that's for sure.

Either way Guintoli was still faster in race one that Spies best time. Race two was slower but that could be down to many factors. racing was closeer and mroe aggressive so times will almost inevitably be slower when the race is like this.

I hope Sikes gets a GP riders, he has done wonders for Kawasaki.

Keep up. Sykes signed a few weeks ago to stay at Kawasaki WSB for next year. He has said he has no interest in moving to MotoGP unless he has a competitive package (read that as factory bike), so is in WSB for the duration I think. It is rumoured that there will be at least 3 factory kawasakis in WSB next year, with Loris Baz, Carlos Checa and maybe kenan Sofuogflu joining Sykes (assuming Checa recovers from his broken pelvis of course).

Matt you wrong Young placed last in the last race. Roger Crashed because of oil the engine let go. That was on the account of the mapping they did to get as much as they could out of that engine. Second race it was mapped slightly different and it was a fresh bike. Eslick hasn't done well really all year so I had no comment on him other then he did do better then Young in second race and would of done better if he kept it on two wheels the first.... that's racing.

Yeah go ahead guess the lottery.... many do and fail.lol

Im sorry, maybe you don't do math so good ; )

Race one, Blake Young finished 12th (4 points). Hayden and Eslick both failed to score or finish (for whatever reason doesn't actually matter in the end).
Race two, Young finished 12th again (of 17 credited finishers - i.e. nowhere near last) 4 points again. Hayden 8th (8 points) and Eslick credited with 14th (2 points).

So, lets add up the points haul.....Hayden 8 points (one finish), Young 8 points (2 finishes), Eslick 2 points (one finish).

None of the three really set the world on fire, and none were much better than the other regular WSB riders.
However, Young was the only one to finish both races in the points, and if you had to decide a season result on that result Young would be the winner. So he must still be assumed to have had the most succesful weekend of the three surely?

Lastly..........Will any of the three stand a chance of a regular ride in WSB from last weekend? If it is to be any of them it will be Young, who impressed the Crescent team with his approach and work over the weekend.

If Leon Camier isn't fit soon they may even keep Blake for the next race at least. I would class that as a succesful weekend for Young wouldn't you?

If Young would be the choice it would be a bad one. There was a reason no sponsor picked him up to ride in AMA. Also if you look at the points your right. Thing is if Hayden wouldn't of lost a engine he would of really stuck it to Young. Young lives not but Hour plus from me and I really have nothing good to say after his display his last year in AMA. I really don't look at Young as being successful being that he got spanked in race two by a AMA Spec bike. What Hayden did was just flat out remarkable.
