Posted to EBR's FB page approximately 3 PM EDT today:

"Wow, time has been flying by. Maybe a couple more teasers on RX coming soon...

Anyhow, the race truck is on the way to New Jersey. Last chance this year on the East Coast to see Geoff, Aaaron and the Team Hero and Team AMSOIL/Hero 1190RS bikes in the AMA Superbike action. We have a few more HP, and the advanced electronics with traction control seems to be working, so it should be exciting!

We really want all our fans in the area to come and support us! New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville NJ. Erik will be there, and some of the Hero partners. So please come, cheer for us, and thank our partners! We couldn't have made it without all of you, so come celebrate on Sat the 14th and Sunday the 15th!"

That is confirmation that the photos are indeed the upcoming RX model.

Geoff qualified 6, less than 1 second behind second place. OTOH, Hayes crashed in qualifying yesterday and blew an engine this morning. He manged to hold the pole based on yesterday's time, but apparently he's worried about the bike.

Don't know about Herrin. Announcements at AMA page say 1 (Hayes), 23 (Eslick) and 75 (Nash) got a 5 second penalty for jumping the green flag. Don't know how Eslick got back up to 3rd from that deficit.

I don't know what the hell's happening, but people are bouncing all over in the live timing. Aaron holding 4th, but Geoff's dropped to 9th and much of the rest of the field has shifted all around.

I heard it was Hayes, Eslick and Pegram that got dinged for jumping the start.

On the restart Hayes was a man on a mission getting from 14th up to the front. Unfortunately he didn't create enough of a gap to get a podium slot and finished fourth.

So what I DIDN'T hear was whose bike grenaded on the track and spread the oil slick??

Mid-race stoppage has AMSOIL EBR riders seeing red in New Jersey

MILLVILLE, N.J. (Sept. 14) - AMSOIL EBR riders Aaron Yates and Geoff May seemed poised for a season-best National Guard SuperBike finish before a red-flag stoppage threw all of the progress the team made during the weekend out the window.

After a wild restart, both Yates and May got shuffled back in the pack and finished seventh and ninth, respectively.

Yates was off like a shot aboard the AMSOIL/Hero EBR on the initial start of the race, dashing into the lead pack from the third row of the grid.

"We had a good spot going. We were in a groove, running fourth, and had built up a little bit of a gap on those guys," Yates said. "I was trying to settle down and get into a good rhythm and go faster, but we got the red flag and had to start all over."

The stoppage came about a third of the way through the race when Huntley Nash had an engine failure and sprayed oil down a large swath of the racetrack, forcing a one-hour, 15-minute delay to get the racing surface cleaned up.

Once the field was re-gridded and racing resumed, things got out of hand quickly.

"It was a crazy restart," Yates said. "(Josh) Hayes came flying up the inside of somebody. I thought he was close to going over on the high side and he just about ran me off the track. Those guys were ready to go that time. The first start, I don't know if they were sleeping when we got our AMSOIL EBR out there with a good jump."

May's day was a challenge from before the start to the finish. He discovered a vibration on the parade lap and pulled into the pits to make repairs. His Team Hero/AMSOIL EBR recovered in time to start the race, but the red flag did May and his team no favors either.

"I had a bent rotor, so we came back in to swap it out," May said. "We fixed that problem, but the setup got away from us and we ended up tearing up the rear tire. Once that happened, it was all I could do to finish where I was at.

"We're going to go back over the data and see what happened. Maybe the rear shock lost pressure; it's too early to tell. All I know is that the problem destroyed the rear tire. The red flag hurt me. Even with the problems I was in a good rhythm and running fifth."

Despite the temporary disappointment, May is ready to put all of the problems behind him and aim for that long-awaited podium finish.

"We're going to take what we learned today and be stronger tomorrow," May said. "We've got a good bike for this track, so hopefully we've used up all of our bad luck in one race."

The second half of the Devil's Showdown for the SuperBikes starts at 4 p.m. EDT on Sunday and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.

I hate to say it, but the riders are not cutting it. EBR needs to give opportunity to other riders next season.
the ebr bikes have not done better then last year. They are going backwards.
Fillmore has been great with KTM.
eslick has looked bad with Suzuki.
if he would have stayed with EBR, both parties would have had more success.

I think the inline 4's are dominating the racing these days. Has any motorcycle not a inline 4 won a race all year?

Unfortunately I think the lack of depth in terms of machinery and riders in AMA racing is making the KTM look better than it really is. Remember there are no factory/distributor supported Honda, Kawasaki, BMW or Aprilia machines in the competiton, so Suzuki and Yamaha are able to pretty much dominate. KTM have steered very clear of WSB/BSB because they know the RC8 is pretty much out of date and uncompetitive, so achievening top 5 results in AMA is more a showing of the lack of competitve machinery in AMA than of the KTM being a competitve superbike.
With the lack of TV coverage I can't see any of the major factories being willing to spend the money required to run a top class team in future either.

Well whatever the reasons EBR racing does not look all that good this year. They are not bad IMO just not good enough. There are what 6 different manufacturers bikes running. Looks like they are 4 out of 6 not great. I want to see them in FIM but IDK the machines do not look like they will do that well there. I will stand by my statement earlier this year, I think they need a different configuration motor to compete the twin isn't good enough. I heard earlier this year wait till you see the bikes on more friendly to twin tracks well ? There is a learning curve for the rider I am sure with the machines now having traction control but IDK I am well bummed I really hoped for something a little more competitive I guess.

well, i think the rider has alot to do with success.
Danny placed the EBR where it had not been before. you need younger guys that are single no family, becuase they can relly focus on racing.
look at moto GP.
the top riders are single. family guys will not push becuase they have other things that matter to them more.

Utter Bollocks!

The fact that riders are single is more a reflection of their age and occupation than anything to do with their racing ability. Are you suggesting that Colin Edwards lacks comittment or passion for racing? How about Tom Sykes, Josh Hayes, Leon Haslam or perhaps Sylvain Guintoli to name just a few married racers off the top of my head?

On the other hand, I could fill a page with names of unmarried racers who will never be world champions no matter how hard they try : ) Nothing to do with marrital status, just innate ability I'm afraid.

I don't think it matters. Once they lose the will to win and take risks they tend to retire anyway. None of the guys on the MotoGP grid lack comittment or passion, front to rear young to old. Only ability and money (or lack of) separate them really.

It's possible the factory has lost some of their focus, or rather, they've had it diverted with the attention on getting reasonably priced bikes into production. Yea, they're growing their staff but I'm sure this affects everyone.

In an interview a race or two ago, Geoff May said one issue they had was that the rules had been changed recently to allow altered camshafts. Most (all?) of the other manufacturers have revised their cam profiles as a result. Geoff said EBR had been unable to take advantage of this as engineering was tied up with the new street bike(s) and didn't have time to develop new cams.

I doubt we can fathom all that's going on behind the doors at EBR right now. It wouldn't be surprising to me if that's affected their race efforts to some degree.

I agree Court. if you look at 'factory' race teasm they all have a dedictaed department that handles racing ONLY. In the case of the big 4 Jap companies and Ducati these employ hundreds of staff, so EBR are doing a great job with what they have.

However, the rules are the same for everyone, and if EBR want to race and win in AMA Superbike they have to develop parts at the same rate or faster than their competitors in order to stay competitive.

Maybe a team racing EBR machines in European Superstock would be a better use of resources once the production bikes become more widespread outside the US. Either that or see what happens in WSB once they have the full cost cutting rules in place by 2015.

racing with one hand tied behind your back for whatever reason isn't great, especially as casual observers don't see the reason why you came 6th/7th but just judge by the result. We here know that EBR have bigger fish to fry and are pressed to achieve every goal they set due to limited resources, but casual spectators may not be so forgiving unfortunately.

I actually had the opportunity to talk with Erik Saturday and that is something that he mentioned too. He said that as good as the Twin is on the street, it lacks at the track compared to the I4's. He did say that he is really wanting to coming out with an I4 in the future. The when asked about maybe a V4 he said that he doesn't feel that the added cost and complexity are really worth it.

It was really interesting to hear his views on how the AMA and Motorcycle Road Racing in general.

Since the beginning of the AMA Superbike class the AMA has adjusted the formula of displacement and weight in an attempt to have parity between twins and fours. As I recall they have at times even thrown restrictors into the mix.

It is an impossible task to make an apple equal an orange. One or the other will have an advantage.
