had a shock revalved and shortened. bike is hooking better than ever, and the front is planted to the ground.
the problem is - I'm WAY slow on my 60fts...
some is due to rider rust, as i just got back on track after motor problems (whole nuther story) but anyway...i was thrilled to be able to run 28lbs rear with the new shock. with stock it would not hook with any over 12-16lbs ,and or stand up even at 8" over. its hooking and staying down, and i have the sag set at 3/4"
I have lost a full 10th in the 60' though ,launching the same as before the revalve.
Is it all rider, or any suggestions for tweaking preload/compression/rebound?

p.s. i know a LOT is my rust because i have been needing to conscientiously whack the throttle, when i used to lock immediately...but I'm cutting mid to high 1.6s !
this bike is now chassis-wise ready to rock , i need to get seat time and figure out if a poor set up shock is actually hurting me. With my new setup I should be into the 1.4s since i was high 1.5s stock.... f'n frustrated !

Either the motor is down on power, or the suspension is sucking it up. Is your MPH still good? If the MPH is still good, I'm thinking suspension. The power that used to pull the wheel has gone somewhere.

Got it : ) setup was far too soft down and too slow back up. I was also coming out too soft. Got it in the ballpark now and was knocking off 1.5s

As a drag racer, cars not bikes, please dont get hung up on low numbers, CONSISTENCY make them all the same or within 0.001to 0.002 or even less and shoot for et and speed. Just cause its quit in 60s doesnt make it fat at end. Had a guy whos car was pulling 1.15s, went bigger engine,,,all kinds of all over the place, too his car back to ZERO on suspension tuning. got it setup and hooking good EVEN ON SLICK tracks, and he can dial for greasy tracks easy by pulling timing(he is now EFI) as its is a key stroke away. now he is POed with 1.225 EVERY time, he cant go lower or higher unless cars just doesnt get a grip at all then it blows tires off, his now runs 5.05s in 1/8th rather than older 5.70s AND he has won several weekly track races and has started a couple of match races(off rev limiters, stutter boxes, and electronic controls,,will run4s in 1/8th but needs MUCH bigger brakes and a better shute set up first. So a tip, get used to new set up if its hooking and dial YOU into the bike, then as you learn more about new setup you MAY find you .10 in 60 down road. Good luck and ride safe.

one tenth in the 60 foot is worth about two tenth on the over all time at a 1/8 track.... At least thats my experience after drag racing bikes for the last 10 years....

So I would say that the 60 foot is quite important!
