Hey guys,

So my stupid DVR recorded the DSB races last weekend instead of the Superbike races so I didnt see any of them. Does anyone know how I can see the races? Thanks in advance.

They screwed me up by putting the first race on at 8 (instead of 11 like usual), so I didn't get to see it either. I wish Speed would stream them a week after or so.

Me too.

The additional kick in the pants is that the "info" function on the DVR for the races said they were the Superbike class!

If anyone knows a legal, non copyright violating way for me to see the races I would really appreciate it!

On a side note...

If you pay a TV provider to show you the programming and either you miss it because you screw up or you miss it because they're too stupid to make it easy or because with most race series you can't tell a DVR to record a whole series like you can with a regular show...

Is it illegal to download it from triple W dot racing for doot me?

Just curious...

Also... What about programming that you just plain can't get in America? Stuff you can't even pay for because it's just not shown...

M1, you are in a very interesting area of law.

You have a "fair use" right to media shift. So if it came across your cable box and you had the right to use it, you are legally permitted to change format or time shift it.

HOWEVER...

You are not allowed to redistribute it (as someone would have to do to give it to you), and you are NOT allowed to circumvent even trivial copyright protections to media shift it (as per DCMA).

So the laws are contradictory... one law says you can do it, the other law says you can't practically do it.

In practice, you will get away with media shifting every time... but you will get slaughtered for redistribution if you get caught. You won't generally get popped for downloading illegally redistributed content, however most "download" programs these days also do redistribution (bit torrent, limewire, etc). So you are running a very high risk trying to do it.

Personally, I just walk when I cant do it legally... I won't do anything beyond media shifting content I own. But I am eagerly waiting the revolution, and when the cable companies that won't let me buy channels ala-carte are finally lined up against the wall, I'll shed no tears (and gleefully fire some shots).
