AMA Pro Road Racing
Honda Super Cycle Weekend Presented by Dunlop Tire
Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course
Lexington , Ohio
July 8-10 , 2011
By Eric Barrows

The Day we've all been awaiting! The 1190 is here and being prepped for the track.
Virtually identical to what you will receive from Erik Buell Racing, these race bikes have very few differences. A few upgraded hoses , a different shroud around the instrument cluster. Bruno has relocated the brake and clutch reservoirs a little lower. Running the Magnesium wheels(He handed me one and it weighed virtually nothing, half the weight of my camera it seemed) and of course no lights.

Here are a few images as they were being race- prepped.

bad news; it's been raining since 7:30 this morning. For now, it has temporarily ceased, and as you can guess the track is being dried.

A couple of years ago this happened 3 times in one day!

Just as the track was dry, they let the bikes out and it immediately started raining, almost as if the cacophony of sound caused the skies to let loose. Three times! The NEXT day was beautiful, and the show went on. Let's hope the rain has not decided to stick around this time, and we'll soon see bikes on the track. We'll keep you all informed.

At this vantage point I could have literally reached out and touched the Bikes as they
sped by. Very rare for a Race course. Probably a little disconcerting for the racer too!

Bad news. Bike in the gravel on morning Warm-up. Missed a shift. No worries; Geoff is out on the "B" bike. "A" bike broke a fairing stay and a windshield, otherwise looks easy to repair. Pics following.

WOW!...What a race! Both the Sportbike race and the Superbike race were GREAT FUN to watch. Lots of lead changes and Hey! Danny won the race! Wouldn't do a burnout for me cause I'm guessing "Team orders" but did park in front of me on the cool down and toss his gloves into the crowd! Got everyone screaming and a little boy got one of them. Great guy that Danny!

I got the PBS guys (whom are here doing a Documentary on EBR) an interview with Danny, and introduced them to Court for an interview at a later date. MAYBE NOW we'll be able to hear some of those stories he's always threatening to spill.(Unless Erik stops him first!)

We got to hang out here a couple of nights and trade stories, they asked if they could sell this documentary on Badweb after it's broadcast. What do you think Blake?

All in all a good weekend. EBR got a lot of Data and a top 10 is darn good considering the conditions. There was a crowd around the bike every time I went by and lots of Badwebrs whom I would love to have hung around with. Thanks all of you for introducing yourselves and if any of you make it to New Jersey I expect to have a Party at the Motorhome there. You all are invited and bring friends! See you all there!

Spectating at Mid-Ohio

Pictures, or it never happened... : )

First, nobody would be dumb enough to let somebody sit on a revolutionary new $40,000 sportbike, so that of course is just another crazy story some construction worker made up...

And of course, this is a high zoot event and Mid Ohio and AMA Pro Racing are a cold-hearted bureaucracies, so there's no opportunity to do something special for anyone...
