Well I finally got out on a drag strip. Worked on my reaction time and launching. I only got to make 5 runs before my battery died. I knew I should have put it on the tender last night. Anyway, I strapped the front, took out all of my pre load in back and had no problems with wheelies off the line. Front was still lifting as I shifted down the track, but wasn't unmanageable. Anyway, my times for my first run were:

RT = 1.15
60ft = 2.18
ET = 12.51
MPH = 114.13

All my times got progressively better and my 5th run was:

RT = .9958
60ft = 2.0
ET = 11.52
MPH = 122.95

A lot better than the mid 13's I was running last time out. Maybe I'll hit 10 seconds next weekend!

I ran at Fayetteville Motorsports Park right outside of FT Bragg.

My 60ft times are better, but yeah they still have a ways to go. I'm still not able to go to WOT off the line and control wheelies at the same time and I think that's whats killing them. Another huge issue I'm having is shift points. I'm not shifting until the rev limiter reminds me to. I usually don't think about it until I hear it, and when I do think about it I can't watch the tach and the strip at the same time. I'll get it though. For being the 7th time in my life I have been down the 1/4 mile, I was pretty happy with that 11.5

shift light might help with that, a nice big bright orange light in your face will get your attention

yes shift light is a must i have two 1 to launch @ and 1 to shift @ you have no time too look at a rev counter .have you tryed short shifting in 1st when i ran stock wheel base i gave it no rpm on the line just clutch control and throttle

Not sure what you mean by short shift off the line. Explain please.

I think he means not revving the bike out through the whole range, and maybe shifting a thousand or so rpms before redline/your normal shift point etc

I'm in complete agreement with Littlebutquick.Hardlaunches don't work that well on pretty stock bikes (or cars). Heavy but controlled throttle and slipping the clutch combined with a good launch will stand you better. Short shifting a high torque motor is pretty common in lower gears too. Combine that with a good reaction time and you'll get better ET's. Just my 2 cents.

Good job. Practice, practice and even more practice will result in better results. Be careful as it is addictive! : D

An air shifter with a Dyna shift minder will make the air shifter "automatic" and is reasonably priced. I was absolutely horrible foot shifting (not that I'm any better now). The air shifter helped tremendously.
