Picked up an XB12R to run in lightweight CCS classes next season. The bike came with a Sebimoto full fairing. Looking at the frontal area I'm wondering if the stock oil cooler and air scoops are enough to keep the engine/rear cylinder from overheating. Anyone have experiencing racing the XB with a full fairing (like sebimoto) and stock oil cooler and air scoops? Any issues with heat? Thanks | ||

I did for 2 seasons. I THINK I came into the oil temp limit on a couple occasions when I'd get a spark interrupt - but keep in mind, that was Willow Springs - 115 in the shade that day. I have now gone to the heavy oil cooler and duct. I still on the hottest days will put the original quarter fairing back on to get more air around the engine. Stock cooler is somewhat blocked but generally seemed OK - but I never recorded cylinder head temperatures so can't give you a before and after idea. | ||

Based on this feedback and others I've received it sounds like the stock motor with the full fairing is getting marginal cooling and a built motor needs the larger cooler and intake shroud for sure. Can anyone suggest a source (brand, model) for a race intake shroud and oil cooler that works well with the full fairing? Thanks | ||

I run a full fairing but kept the factory scoops in place for the oil cooler and rear cylinder. Also know a couple guys that have made a bracket to turn the factory cooler 90 degrees to improve airflow. | ||

Problem is Sebimoto will not run them until they get a few on order. Their scoop and oil cooler mount is really clean (though you have to cut the old oil cooler bracketry) Check Hals. I think Hals and Sebimoto were nearly interchangeable. Hals was made by Shark Skinz - but sold exclusively by Hals. You might hit Shark Skinz directly to see if they still have tooling for the duct. (note, duct also acts as oil cooler mount) The oil cooler USED TO BE available through Buell Racing (Duga) - not sure any more but Henry might be able to help. Try Catalyst Composites as they also do some good XBRR and 1125R style bodywork to fit the XB range. There are a few people making virtual copies of the original Sebimoto stuff, so it is worth looking around to see if anyone else is still offering the same kits. We used to get fairing kits from Italy that were pretty much the same as Sebimoto, but the company we used has stopped making them now due to lack of demand  | ||

Sharkskinz got back to me - they still have all the tooling for the duct work and fairings but you will have to order through Hals - they still have an exclusive with Hals. | ||
