What is everyone's recommendation for how long to extend a swing arm. I don't want it to be to long but at the same time it cost $$ to get one extended and I only want to pay once. Swingarm is on a 01 X1, wanna get rid of the training wheels (wheelie bar) and extend the swingarm.

first off what kind of work you have to the bike. What Kind of classes will you be running or you just doing it for fun.

Oh and I understand about expensive. I am looking all over for a XB extended

Im think about 6-9 over depending on what you want. A friend of mine is running a 6 over on a x1 and is running low 10s

I'm plus 6" with a strut and it works great. I am using an older s1 swingarm with no bracing. running mid 10's with no swingarm and a 1200cc engine. 6" is just about perfect....it will lift the front end about 2" off the ground yet still hooks up well.

The motor has quite a bit of work done to it. I run the 10.90 class with AHDRA and depending on track conditions I have to slow it down some.

I don't know if this will work for you but the older model buell swingarm's fit on my X1, I bought one off of a S3 and using it (because its steel). Paid $60 for it and know a good fab shop to get the work done at.

Thanks for all the input I will take any info people have.

Is this a race only bike or a street/strip bike?

I ask as there isn't a tremendous cost increase in the length of an extended arm. I see 10" and 12" over bikes pulling serious wheelies.

Why are you giving up the bars?

Having run both I'm a bar guy for the rest of my racing days.

Yeah compared to the cost of some bars, an extended swingarm doesn't seem to do much.
