Had a lot of fun at Roebling Road Raceway this past weekend. Finally coming to grips with the new XB12R. It has taken me a lot longer then expected to get the thing to handle, but man, it felt like it was on rails this weekend. Every race was a battle start to finish at the front. Missed my first expert class win by .008 of a second to a Bimoto 1000 in Light Weight Super Sport. Finished the weekend with two 2nd. And a 5th. I’ll take it!

Had a great time hanging out with the other Buell regulars, Smoke, Jay Smith, and Mike. It was hot! Really enjoyed working the pits for Smoke and Jay Smith during the Team challenge race. I don’t know how you guys did it in that heat but you guys rode your ass’s off. Great Job!

That's a great picture Al, enjoyed talking with you and your family.

Had a blast hanging out with the Buell racers again. Thanks again Tim for the ride, your a class act and a great friend. I'm lucky you put up with my slow lap times, lol ! Your a hard core racer, hats off to you with all that you do.

That goes for you too Al and Jay, Class act all the way. Take care and good luck at the next races.

had a good time at Roebling with everybody although i was really expecting a larger turnout of competitors. the track looked simple but had 2 decreasing radius rights that could catch you out and a crown with off camber on the outside of the 3rd right which leads to the big drive to the straight. practice was decent as we got a lot of time due to the low turnout but i was slow into turn 1, turn 3 and couldn't find the right line on the drive to the straight but i got into the low 1:20's somehow. had a big cookout Friday night with Michael and his family and got a good nights sleep.
woke up Sat morning and got ready for the day. had the rider meeting and barely got out to practice as they combined the groups and i was in the first group now. Michael took the bike out in the Team Challenge practice group to try and get acclimated to the extra HP from his Ultralight Duc. first race was GTO and i got a good start but was passed up in turn 1 by the faster guys. by the end of lap 2 i was in 5th and settled in. i kept the 4th place rider in sight but was unable to make good ground on him and finished 5th. next up was Unlimited Supersport and i got another good start. unfortunately i was racing most of the same guys from the GTO and we finished with the same 5 guys on top with me in 5th again. as i was approaching my white flag lap in the final turn i had the 2 leading experts come by, one on each side, and had the best seat in the house for a photo finish between Nate Kern and Sean Dwyer with Sean taking the win by .001. i had a real good time meeting with Crazy Hair Chad Martin and Matt Brown after the race as they have been ahead of me all year and have been getting faster all year and are dragging me with them. THANKS GUYS!! i ran the Unlimited race instead of my usual Heavyweight Supersport as that race was back to back with my Supertwins race on sunday and Road Atlanta last year cured me of running back to backs! had another cookout and retired.
Sunday broke with some overcast and a feel of rain in the air. one round of practice and the races were combined for the morning. i was first out in Heavyweight Superbike and got another good start but fast guy Sean Cassel went by at the entrance of turn 1 and i was 4th at the end of the 1st lap and hanging on. i was catching one of the experts and got closer each lap and somehow ended up in 3rd place. the Team Challenge was first up after lunch and we lined up and were off. i settled into 5th overall after the first lap and tried to work on my approach to the final turn to try and get a better drive to the straight. on about lap 12 or 13 i got sideways on the rear and when it caught i was aimed off track and was unable to ride it out through the sand on the outside of turn 8 and down i went. the bike dug in the sand and spit me off into a double pirouette and i remember thinking: don't stand up till you stop rolling! when i got up the bike was still running so i shut it off and tried to get it off the ground. the suction of the sand and weight of the bike would not let me get her up. i stood there looking at the cornerworkers on the inside of the turn and tried again with the same result. after a few laps the younger cornerworker came safely across and helped me get her up. i almost dropped it again trying to get out of the sandtrap but got straight across the track and stayed in the grass back to the pits. the crew jumped in and removed about 5 gallons of sand, tywrapped the front fairing back on and Michael jumped on and soldiered on. i was kicking myself in the butt for giving up a good overall position. Michael put in about 35 solid laps and we brought him in. i went back out and behaved this time and took the checkered flag about 15 laps later. luckily we finished 2nd in our class due to the low turnout but finished last(8th) overall. thank you crew! the crew also supported Jay Smith's team as well as Rachel Sasse's. Al, Rick, Troy, Dan and Mark were great! last race of the day for me was Supertwins. i got a good start and was first through most of lap one. i think Adam Neese showed me a wheel in the last turn and i wicked it up. by the end of the race when i got the checkered flag i had a lead of the straight and had turned into the 1:18's. another goal met, a win in Supertwins and times in the teens!! woohoo!! next race, Summit Point, another new to me track. see ya there!
