So I got up early Saturday and set about changing tires and brake pads for the practice, GTO and sprints. Practice went well and I was able to pick up some time. I was starting to feel more comfortable with the track and having some brakes was nice too. First up was the GTO and I got a good start but was passed by Josh Row on his 750 in turn 1. A couple more got by in turn 5 and I settled in 4th and kept trying to keep up but I was only able to maintain the gap without advancing. 25 minutes later I took the checkers in 4th. I had no issues on the track and the bike was feeling good. Next up was HVWT Superbike and I got another good start with a repeat of Josh coming around in turn 1 and I was able to keep him close but unable to make good ground after the 1st lap. My best lap was my last lap and I had gotten into the 2:34’s and closed some ground on Josh. That race helped me out with the track and I lined up next for Super Twins. Another blazing start and I was 1st through lap 1 but was attacked by Tom Davis on his 1098R in turn 5. He came through on the brakes but ran wide on the exit so I came up the inside going up the hill. I focused down for some solid laps and managed to finish first. WOOHOO!! I swapped to a used set of DOT’s for HVWT Supersport and got another good start. I was in 3rd by turn 5 and trying to maintain. I ended up having a scrap for 3rd for the next few laps as I was passed and then passed the passer. We did this a couple of times but I was untouched for the final lap and finished 3rd. Unfortunately I forgot about going to tech for supersport and was subsequently DQ’d! DOH! All in all it was a good day with 1 of each, a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th. The HVWT supersport race was up first the next day so I left my DOT’s on, cleaned the bike a little and set up the grills for a monster cookout with brats, corn, chicken, dogs and veggies. We had a nice gathering that wound down around 10 and it was off to dream of more racing tomorrow!

Trust me Blake I am dreaming about one. Hopefully someday I can find my way back on to one of Eric's machines. If I could of I would never have left. Many fast Buell guys are no longer racing because the Buell contingency they got used to is gone. At least my current situation keeps me racing competitively. I have even been able to up my game this year.

The 1190RR is a very, very special machine. When you get up close to this bike you see it is not just a big bore 1125 but about 5 notches up in evolution. A thoroughbred right out of the gate. I would love to travel the country slaughtering the 1000s and hunting Ducs with the 1190RR in CCS and ASRA but I think the 1190 is out of reach for someone like me right now.

Geoff May said on "On The Throttle" that Eric hopes to put the 1190 into production. If that is true maybe the bike will be within reach. I guess we will have to wait and see with fingers crossed.

sunday started off good with 3 sprint races scheduled. first up was HVWT Supersport. got a good start and was passed again in turn 1 by Josh Row and Tom Davis this time. i kept them in sight but was unable to get a wheel in and finished in 3rd about 30 yards back from Tom. went to tech this time to keep the result, LOL. took lunch, put on the slicks and got ready for Heavyweight Superbike. Same blazing start, same pass by Josh in turn 1. i hung on to Josh this time and he towed me to my best lap of the weekend so far but i still never got a wheel in as he was just a little better on the drive out and i was pulling close going in to the corner on the brakes. he finished about 10 bike lengths ahead at the checkers. i got ready for SuperTwins and this was a one wave start. i got another good start and was in with the experts in the middle of turn 1. i latched on to the 2nd position expert and although he got a little ahead of me he was unable to get away. i reeled him in a little closer each lap and as i got close to him in turn 1 on the final lap Tom pushed his 1098R up the inside and i got a little wide coming out. i got back up to him in turn 12 but he got a better drive in 14 and i finished 2nd on the straight. another set of good lap times and a decent finish. packed up and made the 25hr drive home including the 4 hrs of sleep in the backseat of the truck.
ride safe!
