So on June 6th my closest (former) Buell Dealer is hosting a day event at the local drag strip. Being a motorcycle dealer sponsored event I'm hoping to see a huge amount of bikes compared to the usual (mostly cars race here). I just wanted to see if I could maybe get some tips and pointers or hear some stories being as it will be my first drag races. I've always loved it and been into it, just never actually done it myself (well, not legally anyhow).

I plan on bringing out the Lightning for some good quick runs, and the WIP Blast for some lazy fun runs. I know that the dealership has a Destroyer and a few other drag bikes, so it will interesting to see who and what all comes out to play from them and around the area...

So there you have it, let's get some input, hear some stories, and maybe even see some pics! Also, this thread is NOT motorcycles only, if you drag cars LETS HEAR ABOOT IT TOO!

This is my neighbor racing the worlds fastest Ford Probe. If anybody would like details, I'd be happy to share

9.73 @ 136 mph with the old motor on Nitrous.

New motor should be 8.65's conservative.

I'm down to some wiring and finishing up the rear suspension.

I coach two guys with their bikes. Rich on the R6 (10.70's) is a full time gig and Howie on the Busa (9.60's..should be faster) is a part time deal.

to the original poster - start out low rpms and get use to throwing the clutch fast and jumping on the gas.
do it at 2k
then 2500
then 3k
etc etc etc
Dont rush into it, take your time and get comfortable
It'll work out.
