Ebear, I hope you don't mind me reposting one of your pics.

Does anyone know where this tail piece comes from? It looks one piece with the seat pan. Looks like it might be lighter than the other after market tails. That seat pad looks good too.

thats a superbike tail section that comes with a built in seat pan. i believeable flexi-glass makes those and probably yoyo dyne.

Thanks for the reply. The Yoyo Dyne tail is like the one I got from Airtech, which isn't one piece. Flexi-Glass says their tail uses the stock seat. Sounds like the one I have. I could just get the FG seat pan, but I'm thinking there is a lighter solution out there.

I saw one coming together like that on Higbee's bike from Taylor Made also. http://www.racetaylormade.com/index.html (same folks that make the case sliders, fairings - good people, we've gotten to know them a bit)

Don't know if they're doing the bodywork for EBR or not.

Hey Doug - seriously, the more I look at that picture, I believe it IS the TaylorMade tail section.

Email them the link to this thread and ask. They were seriously working on it at Willow Springs on Shawn's bike and changing the shape and location of the padding based on his inputs.

Steve, thanks for the information. My email to TaylorMade has been sent. I put a link and comment in there about this thread. I also asked about any other body parts that they may have that save weight.

That is definitely the Taylormade tail, which was a combination in-house Buell and Paul Taylor design. I expect Erik will be selling them as well. They're available in two weights, with the lighter one having a hex or foam stiffening panel and very light, light glass. It saves almost 5 pounds all by itself compared to the street bike components, and another 3 pounds with the light weight subframe Erik is selling.

In a "small world" story: Kristi Burke works at Taylor Made doing scheduling/accounting/tracking type details. She's the daughter of one of our NC programmers/tool designers. She is now dating one of my Willow racing buddies (RC51)

I heard about it when her DAD asked me what I knew about a "racing friend" working at this other local company... when I told him who I was thinking about, he said HE'S DATING MY DAUGHTER... dead silence - then he BUSTS UP LAUGHING (he likes the guy) -WHEW!!

Heard back from TaylorMade today. That is their tail. The picture they sent me to show their product is the same as the one above. Price is $550. There's definitely one in my future. Thanks for all the help.

I already have the GSD's tail. The reason I like the TM tail is it puts everything into one piece and saves a few pounds. Don't get me wrong. If I wasn't after the lightest tail/seat possible, I would stay with what Pete sold me.
