Any suggestions where I might find a 23 tooth for Daytona? I'll settle for a 22 if that is all I can find. EBR does not have any XB sprockets and they suggested Street & Comp, who are currently out of stock. | ||

Most guys on a XB will use a 22 front and 42 rear at Daytona. 23 front would need a 44 rear. I have also run a 21 front and a 40 rear. two teeth on the front = one at the rear as far as changes go. 1 tooth at the rear equals about 300 rpm change in top gear. Dennis Kirk sells them. They are made by PBI Sprockets. | ||

I'm using the stock swingarm so I wanted to run bigger sprockets to keep the chain away from it, similar in size to the belt pulleys. A 23 / 46 would be close to what your running, a 2.0 gear ratio, and keep the chain up and away from the stock swingarm. Your 22 / 42 comb is a 1.90 gear ratio so I would be right in the same ballpark. I may be off base here, this is my first Buell, but looking at clearances around the swingarm, I just felt trying to stay close to stock pulley size's would give me the best clearance while still accomplishing the same gearing ratio's. I think most guys use the PRP sprockets for the front. Several places sell them. | ||

Michael at EBR found a source for XB12R sprockets and they have plenty in stock, all sizes 17 – 27 tooth. They carry PBI sprockets that will work with EBR’s trans output shaft nut, part # CD0009.02AH. Order part number 277X then tell them the number of teeth you need. I'm using the stock (2009) swingarm with a FreeSpirits adjustable tensioner. Yes, I'm making a chain-guide for the top of the swingarm. | ||

to neb25 : "2 teeth front = 1 tooth rear" WRONG !!!! To playHard in Mugello (1,1 km straight) a good 88" xb uses a 21/47 with the stock 12 primary ratio a final ratio of 1.9 or 2.0 looks to me crazy "long" ...just a guess . how long is that straight ? bye Alessio | ||

I'm guessing since the entire Daytona tri-oval is 2.5 miles, the run from NASCAR turn 3 to the braking zone of turn one is right at one mile. Three different people, who all ran Daytona last October recommended about a 22 / 42 or 1.90 gear ratio. | ||

1,7 km is a loooong straight i did not suppose so long so maybe a ratio of 2 or a bit less will be ok but my point is : what kind of power ...better what kind of mods do you have to hit 7200/7300 in 5th with such a long ratio.. hope you understand what i mean. good luck Alessio. p.s. i had the same chain conversion using a long ss swingarm on mine and a good way to change sprockets was to have 2 or more chains,keep the chain tensioner as low as possible so the the chain passes far from the swingarm (bottom) because you WANT to protect the swingarm (i did with teflon) on top and ,good but not really necessary with a proper chain longness, on the bottom side too. good luck again | ||

Al, If your swingarm is the newer diecast version, the XBRR chain rub should snap right into place. You are using a PBI sprocket and EBR sprocket nut, so that leads me to believe the chain line would correct for the XBRR/XB chain rub. Send me an email, Michael | ||
