Hello all. First post. I'm planning on bringing my XB9SX to Jennings GP next month and was reading their website bike prep. They appear to have a strict 104dB noise regulation for bikes on track. My D&D exhaust on my XB9SX is about the loudest bike I've ever owned so without a dB meter I was wondering if anyone knows if this would keep me from getting on track. Better yet, have any Buell riders ridden at Jennings GP and what experience do you have with pipes and the enforcement of this regulation? Thanks in advance. Jeff

I've never seen or heard of the noise limit being enforced at Jennings, but I'm usually there Mondays or with local clubs. My XB12R has a Special Ops which isn't quiet, but I've gotten nothing but compliments on the sound at the track. In fact, I've never had a tech even look at any bike I've ridden at Jennings- they're great folks, but aren't zealous about bike prep. You should be fine.

A D&D won't make it at Infineon during an AFM race weekend, the limit is 102 coming thru 11 and past the mic at the Christmas tree for the drag strip. There is a huge difference between 102 and 104. If it looks like it might be close, try and find out where the mic is, then short shift an go through a gear higher with the RPM down just a little. Terry - www.jtsperformance.com

The problem is that most track day operators will NOT give you a refund if you bust noise restrictions.

104 is pretty forgiving but the D&D is so massively loud that you might be on thin ice.

IF they announce where the microphone is located, like Terry said, you can short shift but MOST tracks with noise control will move the mic around because of locals complaining.

That's a problem with loud pipes... and having a D&D doesn't help.

Put your stock pipe back on...and leave it on.

I've heard people on this site refer to inserts for the muffler. I gather that they just slip in the tip(s) so it is quiet when going through your neighborhood then you remove them for the highway. You might be these to Jennings. If you get complained about, slip them in.

104dB is twice as loud as 101 dB. : )

At Jennings I have run a Spec Ops, Buell Race, XBRR copy and a Mike's homemade on an XB. I have run a Drummer on an 1125. No issues. I also believe another rider has run a D&D on an 1125 w/o issue.

If you are there on a day I am there, I can bring a stock can for you to use if the D&D is too loud.

We've seen issues with the rhinehart/beson pipe on the race XB12 at Autobahn raceway
in Illinois, where they measured the sound of the bikes on the front straight so I wouldn't
be surprised to see other tracks doing the same.

i brought my Force piped tuber to a race weekend at Jennings in april. ran practice day saturday, raced sunday with no adverse comments. i had brought another system just in case.(supertrapp) i haven't heard a much louder pipe than the force. probably depends on neighbor complaints. have fun.

If the Force pipe can run, then anything can! That's a megaphone straight pipe. You should have no worries Jeffrey.

Thanks for all the replies guys! This forum certainly lives up to its reputation as a great source of info. I also appreciate the offers from locals to borrow cans. I gave away my stock can but will make arrangements to bring one just in case.

FYI - I'm planning on going up there during the September 11-14 track days so I hope to see other Buells up there.

Xopti - thanks a bunch for the offer. I'll probably be there in Dec too since I know I'm going to be a track junkie again. My buddy is Sam from the Orlando Buell Club. He had great things to say about you.
