Picked up the Aussies sat afternoon at SFO. We bbqed and yakked that evening and the next day we were hard at it. Engine came out of the bike for some upgrades to get about 40-50 more HP on top. BAD NEWS, the head had suffered some damage during all the 200+ MPH runs we had put on it and we had no spare on hand.
After feverishly searching it was decided my 750 would donate its head until our spare arrive. I proceeded to yank the head off my Gix while Greg and Mick continued with the planned upgrades.
Monday saw them back at it along with running in search of various needed parts.I did a day at the shop.We even made it to the ASBN Buell night. Then worked on engine assembly until 11:30 but it was all back together!! This morning saw Greg and Mick degreeing cams and putting engine back where it belongs.

We are planning on heading to Speedweek on thursday. Will have lots of red bikes if you are looking and I'll see if I can remember a Team Elves flag. Should have 4-6 bikes running.

Called Jimmy and the boys from down-under today as some stuff showed us at the shop after they left. They were going through Tech Inspection today. No contact tonight and just saw they had rain today and doesn't look good for tomorrow, so maybe no runs until Sun or Mon.

To the Blastards motor on the "Worlds Fastest Coffee Table" is all back together, with the seat and rear-set mods are all finished. The shop now has a paint sponsor, so it is coming back with new color on the skin. Just three weeks until Bub's Motorcycle Speed Trials wish I were there now but someone needs to mind the store. ... Looks like the Gremlins are at B' ville this year! Jimmy ran a 189 plus "Naked" and when he called all he said was OMG you can't believe what this thing is like to ride without body work. So yesterday he called from the down course impound. He had held on at 194 and was waiting for his return run. 200 "Naked" well not if the gremlins have their way and they did. On the return, something came loose and he lost all his boost and only ran 160. But today is another day and they are in line waiting for their first run of the day.

So remembering about not feeding them after midnight an never letting them get wet, no grimlins for Jimmy. He ran 192 down and a 189 back for a new 190 record. Greg ran 240 down, but lost a valve on his back up run, so they are on their way to SLC to see if they can find a 750 GSXR head. If not we have one at the shop and Bub's is just three weeks away. This was Jimmy and the boys and girls from "Down-Under," I have been holding down the fort, but working on the "coffee table" on weekends. Should get it started Sunday, and body work soon after.

Bub's is this month just a nice 10 hour ride, hope to see you there. ... Terry

Nope. But sure have respect and new perspective for all the guys that have run over 200 naked. Hoping Bubs has better salt with more traction. Our bikes were all spinning the tires most of the run.
Greg offered to sell me the 750,said I had earned half for all my work to date.James is excited!

Let's not forget the Land Speed Records by Richard Nallin on Team Elves RR1000 in their first outing.

Record runs on 09/21/2000:
156.489 in APS-PF class
157.284 in MPS-PG
156.674 in APS-PG

Record runs on 09/22/2000:
158.553 in MPS-PF class
161.052 in APS-PG (against yesterday's record)
161.207 in MPS-PG (against yesterday's record)

And then there are Team Elves records set in subsequent years.

Above info posted on Team Elves website.
Correct these results if any are incorrect or delete this post if it is not relevant.

>>>Let's not forget the Land Speed Records by Richard Nallin on Team Elves RR1000 in their first outing.

Which remains . . . to the best of my knowledge . . the only time a single bike has set 4 records in a single day.

The Richard Nallin piloted Buell RR-1000 did four passes and four back up passes . . . often returning directly to the starting line.

The "limit of 2" was waived with incoming threatening weather.

By the way . . . from the recent Bub's Event at Bonneville . . I am pleased to report. . . .

quote:

Cil set a new MPS-PG 500cc record on her Blast at 116.8mph. The old record was 111.
Susan set a new M-PF 1350cc record on her S1 at 169.7mph. The old record was 137.

Cil's record came on a bike that was truly prepared for M-PG (i.e., the unfaired class). They moved it to MPS-PG because of a new interpretation of the streamlining rules that deemed the tail section illegal. Rather than remove the tail, Dan and Cil opted to put the stock fly screen back on it. So it was far from being a real faired bike. This makes her record all the more remarkable. Her fastest pass was 117.9. She had something of a shoot-out going with team Klockwerks and their former Crossroads Blast, they had a fast pass of 115, but the only managed that once and that's the closest they got.

Susan's record came on her first experience playing with nitrous oxide. Using nitrous at the salt flats is tricky but she learned quickly, graduating from passes at 158mph, to 162mph, to 170.5mph (her fastest pass). Her last pass fell back to 168 because the motor was slightly hurt at the tail end of the pass. Still very impressive. Her speed would also be a record speed in SCTA. She had competition in the form of another nitrous equipped S1, but he only managed to get in the 140's. We waited until the third day to run her bike and by then, the other guy thought he had the record in the bank and was in impound doing his tear-down. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but ...

The bike on the right, while not a Buell, does have Buell Blast wheels. Aaron Wilson set a new A-PF 1350cc record at 185 and change on his nitro burning Sporty. This also won the prize for fastest American V-Twin of the meet, which was hotly contested this year. The bike will be at World of Speed next week as well.

Yeah . . . . times are good in the world of racing Buells.
