Just the usual suspect here. I might bring the Zook or the Superbike. The Sportster is all apart for modifications but it looks like I will be building a second Sportster now to keep the first one streetable.

Hi Mark,
Man, you know I'm disappointed about the Sporty not making it out right away. A second one would be sweet though. 1350? Is Kathy gonna ride the metrics? That would be cool.

Can't wait!

Hey Paul...How ya doing man? It has been a while! We are bumping displacement up for the 1350 class. We have to try to catch up to you fast guys! I love riding my Sport on the street too much to make a dedicated race bike out of it. She is more fun to ride than the Gixxer...well minus the 100 mph wheelies! <G> Kat is ready to kill me ....I have boxes of parts all over the house...including my new BattsShifter.
Kat will not be coming this month because she is traveling for work. She might ride one of my metric bikes this year but I suspect she will have her own soon. She hates the riding position of her Sportster now after riding mine. She likes the XB9R but it doesn't seem like a likely candidate.... unless it can be lowered enough for her 5' tall frame. If we can't lower the XB9R she'll more than likely end up with a J brand 600 with a drag race lowering kit.
So what have you done new for this season? You turned some impressive speeds last year. I'm sure you have worked on the Buell over the winter!

The XB would be cool and I'm sure there's some folks around here that could tell ya about the lowering and gearing. I ain't got a clue. Those 600's are wicked. Thought I heard they run high 9 quarter mile out of the box.
No surprises here. Pick up where we left off. I haven't touched the bike. I need to get busy if we're gonna race in a week.

See ya then

Nope, just another NObody. :-)

Mark, have you done anything for a starter for the superbike? Just wondering as i'm just about done building a remote starter and thought about your bike a couple times in the process. Cool to hear you got a BattsShifter.. is it going on the xl? I understand about not tearing up your streetbike... I'm just not that smart - lol.
Hope all is well... and you have a safe trip down.
WP, when you pulling out? Not sure if I'll be ready or not,, about have starter done(damn starter cart is bigger then my bike) and should be putting fire to it over this weekend(sunday or monday)... have enough new shit to chase bugs for a few months ya know? Going to be a great meet once again either way though, running or not.

Wyckedflesh, thanks for the tip on the ZX. I don't make the decisions about what Kat rides but I can pass it on to her.
Todd, How ya doing? Big surprise seeing you in here! Starter for the Superbike? I do have one....She can't make it this month though. Yeah, the BattsShifter is for the XL. The Zook would more than likely spit me off using an air shifter without stretching the swingarm. She lifted the front wheel on a hard shift into fourth at 140mph last year.

The AHDRA Arizona Bike Week event is next weekend the 27-28, March..at Firebird Raceway in Chandler just south of Phoenix. They will also have their regular Friday night test & tune on the 26th..it usually runs til 11pm or so...If you haven't ever been to the All V-twin drags it's worth the check out..I'll post here if I end up going and I am always happy to have anyone in my pit area for a cold drink, some shade, and good ole BS...just look for the Orange & White checkered flags or ask anyone where to find the ACME Racing team..oh, and watch out, it's kind of like bass fishing..if you get too enthralled you end up asking yourself how YOU ended up on the hook, Hah!

TD, Imagine running into YOU in HERE.lol Pulling out Fri. late, arrive Sat. a.m.
Glad I'm not running in the 1000cc classes. Things should be very interesting to say the least. Especially with the new Twin Jugs entry spicing up the mix. What a sweet, sweet machine. http://twinjugs.com/racing/tjr.htm

1320, Good luck in Phoenix. But if something DOES happen and you make to Maxton, don't forget to bring your helmet and leathers. Even if you don't bring a bike. But if you DID bring a bike that would be very cool too.

Speaking of who's doing what...anybody heard anything out of Slide. I suspect until Mrclean gets his XL together, Slide will be the force in 1350.

We won't be spicing up much of anything for a little while.. some simple stability passes at best. Hopefully Dale A. will be showing up and raising the bar a bit though... he's the one to watch in modified and ol' Dad in Altered as they both have their platforms down from past track time. I'm coming out as new guy with a new setup, and hope there's many others doing the same. Looking forward to harry showing up with his ironhead also. Yeah 1320.. I said IRONHEAD!!
You really think 1320 needs his leathers and helmet to sweep the track?
Joe, if you don't take my smartass remarks too seriously... I'm interested on your views on some crank breathing and head drains I've been working on.
Haven't heard anything about Slide, but between you two, the 1350 class is jamming right on up there(looking forward to the day you decide to put a motor in that frameless wonder).

NaRider, Hey man..in racing if you have thin skin you probably shouldn't take your leathers off, just in case..Hah! And I've helped with track clean up before..every job is important!! As far as all the beering, cheering, tearing sections etc. that you mentioned in an earlier post..if you haven't spent SOME time in ALL those sections you haven't been around racing long enough or your not trying hard enough...My e-mail is sepjoe2000@yahoo.com and I'd be happy to discuss whatever you like to..as far as Maxton I would love to go to an event..but there are only so many race weekends, family weekends, etc. to go around and for now my heart and addiction are in giving all the young boyz and girls that think they are baad a tough time for their money in the 1/4 mile..I WILL be in Phoenix this next weekend : )

I don't know what they used for an ignition, I don't even know what's available for them...but I'd guess that there are modules available similar to the XL's that allow higher rev limiters such as a race ECM....I'm very interested myself!...looking for something to replace my now retired 883 race bike that ran 133 at Maxton (yes, still as a stock bore/stroke)

Borrowed from Buell website

BUELL MOTORCYCLES SET FIVE BONNEVILLE SPEED RECORDS
JDees Performance Firebolt XB9R Runs 169.209 MPH

MILWAUKEE, WIS -- (Thursday, August 28, 2003) Milwaukee-based JDees Performance Racing used four different Buell motorcycles to set five flying-mile motorcycle speed records during the 55th Annual SCTA/BNI Speed Week on the famed Bonneville Slat Flats, Aug. 16-22. The teams fastest record was 169.209 mph, set with a modified Buell Firebolt XB9R ridden by Wes Orloff.

Team members Jesse Dees, Bill Pari, Dan Hurda, Kevin Kedinger and Orloff are all employed at Harley-Davidson or Buell Motorcycles, but developed and built its race bikes in a home shop.

We are just a group of guys who like to see how much straight-line speed we can wring out of these Buells, said Hurda, who lives in Mequon, Wis. This is real grass-roots racing, and once you get a bug for that salt, its hard to stay away.

Kedinger was the rider for four of the teams records. In Production Pushrod 500cc, the he rode a lightly modified Blast to a new record of 116.004 mph, besting the previous record of 113.654 mph. Another JDees Blast with more extensive engine and chassis modifications ran 121.903 mph to set a new record in Modified Pushrod 500cc, shattering the previous record of 116.891 mph. That same motorcycle, fitted with a fairing, set a new record in the Modified Partially Streamlined Pushrod 500cc class with a speed of 124.358 mph, breaking the record previous record of 115.900 mph. Kedinger rode a Buell XB9R to a new Production Pushrod 1000cc record of 144.626 mph, besting the previous record of 143.079 mph. The record established with Orloff riding was for the Modified Partially Streamlined Pushrod 1000cc class. He also rode an XB9R, with a modified engine and fitted with bodywork derived from a Buell RR1000.

The team was aided by engine builder Steve Krause, and Mike Snead and Dan Alberti, who designed the bodywork and graphics for the streamlined bikes. JDees Performance is sponsored by Miller Lite and WOW Distributing, BRAG and Alpinestars.

Sorry we didn't make it to Maxton this weekend. Sure missed not seeing everyone. After four years of merciless flogging (two on the dragstrip and two on the Monster Mile) we've decided to build a motor for Lightnin' so the bike will be down until the motor is completed.

How 'bout a report on the action.
Anybody touch the 250 record?

Hope everyone had a great time!

Had heavy winds Paul, shifting from a headwind to a crosswind. Lee Tindall got his 175mph ticket on Mark's Gixxer, Mark Wolniak ran low to mid 170's I think after a gearing change, Mark Amerhiem did 72 on his 2 stroke Cagiva Mito 125, Mark Wolniak took Harry's Ironhead out for a 125.98 run...Harry had a little mishap on the return road...broke his collarbone.
I heard several Busa speeds above 200...but the wind kept them in the teens mostly. I don't know who it was...but one Busa blew while coming down the track...evidently leaving oil on the concrete.
Slide fought the wind all weekend, and had trouble with the pingel fuel shut-off triping.
Thomas ran a 140mph best on Dale's 1000cc evo...then got his 175mph ticket on a busa...that boy has it bad! <G>
