jason pridmore was a GREAT color guy for the Mid-Ohio races. He had some excellent insight on the race and racers that only a guy that has raced recently can bring. Scott Russell is plain horrible. Now if they can only get rid of Ralph Sheheen and Greg White.

Anyone know if JP is permanent?

I agree wrt JP.

Scott Russell should go back to farming based on his s-l-o-w _ _ S-o-u-t-h-e-r-n _ _ d-r-a-w-l speaking ability. Farm implements are more his SPEED.; )

fresno,

right on [as usual, excepting the Sears Pt. Buell brollies....]

here's what I posted Tue on [SF] SouthBayRider BBS,
RE: TV announcing -

"....RE: Leigh Diffey - yeah, he's OK, perhaps the least offensive SpeedTV voice -
still, nobody else there can touch Dave Despain

actually, the recent TV revelations have been Rich Oliver & Jason Pridmore,
each of whom can give Nick Ienatsch a run for his verbal money

insert any of this trio into the SpeedTV booth & you've got real 'color' !...."

I was particularly impressed with Pridmore's explanation of Bostrom's style of rolling thru the corner versus Hayes more point and shoot cornering. Never in a million years would ol Scott Russell been able to pick up on that...

yes, I appreciated his observations RE: who was comfortable, where, in in a couple of key corners

& also how he discussed weighting the F end -

top notch details, very well revealed, eh?

I was watching GP racing in '96 or so and the two English commentators got so caught up in their own chatter that they missed a brilliant pass.

+1000! If SpeedTV has any clue, they'll offer Jason an attractive contract and keep him around.

Harlan... Don't get my dander up by dissing Greg White.

He's been my hero since he rode the scooter across America a 3-4 years ago - in March, no less.

J.K.. He's ok though for what he does.. Grid and paddock interviews.

I got the feeling that Jason was giving the "Big Buells" a hard time...he has a definite Suzuki bias.

Anyone who has ever seen Scott Russell ride would know farm equipment is not his speed. I like to hear his announcing. Although, my wife came in the room while I was watching a race and said "now that's a southern accent".

Here is an interview that tells a lot about his accomplishments, for anyone who may not know.

Unfortunately, we aren't watching Russell's greatest races, but having to endure his painful color commentary. His past greatness has little bearing on his abilities in the booth. We has seen this many many times from ex-athletes trying to take up the microphone.

I didn't get the same "Big Buell" attitude from either guy last weekend. The praise heaped on Eslick's last lap move on Hacking was pretty genuine. Heck, even Jaime was praising Danny at the end. I think after the 4-5 tough races for Danny everyone has seen the Buell's weak points along with its strengths...just like all the bikes on the grid have strengths/weaknesses.

Maybe just maybe Danny will get his proper due by the end of the season....
