It wasn't too long ago that a similar ad was placed. Great things happened after that.

If I didn't already have my current gig, I would be all over that like white on rice!

This is exciting news!

with all the layoffs now a days, they should be able to land a very qualified individual. they should get rotax ex employees that know th ins and outs of the engine.

Wonder IF there are Rotax dudes/dudettes who also have good suspension and race set-up and suspension tuning experience.

(It aint all engine!)

You can't imagine how much work goes into suspension setup and changes with changing conditions.

You gotta have a guy who can pull springs outta the forks right there on the hot pit with the adrenaline running. Gotta be able to analyze tire condition and help in deciding suspension settings and tire pressures given the track temperatures, tire temperatures and track conditions and the venue AND the rider feedback.

Yeppiree - the engine needs attention but the mechanic who can only work the engine (and no other aspects of the race setup) is likely not going to be needed outside of the dyno. Yeah, there will be engine changes as conditions change - just as in the suspension.

Engine work is a big part of it but if they can't get a guy to work the OTHER aspects of racing, they've gained nothing.

It'll be interesting to say the least.

The talent pool isn't huge.

>>>The talent pool isn't huge.

It really isn't and, as you have pointed out, there is a chasm between a "good mechanic" and a "race mechanic".

As the ad notes, any applicant should be a "known name" in the AMA and/or world racing circles.
