Seems almost odd that the Buells are now being acknowledged by the announcers , not being dismissed as the never gonna win , inferior brand , as in the past and barely even mentioned.

I loved Russell's comment: "I was thinking back in time when I was riding that thing"

To some folks it'll always be a Harley.

The funny thing to me is that the announcers seem to always equate the Buell to Harley. It is always a "The last time Harley was here was 1969.", or something like that. It is almost like Buell making Harley look like a forward-looking forward-leaning relevant motorcycle company for the 21st century. I think I'm going to go out and buy some goggles for my dog! Wait...wait....I'm ok now. I'm gonna sit back down now.

The other funny thing..... after my crack above about Harley riders and dogs on their bikes with goggles....I am ending a 150 mile ride in 90 plus degree heat, about half of it in stop and go traffic........I pull off the road. Now who would you think would pull off to make sure that I'm ok.....a Harley rider with a stuffed toy dog on his bike that is wearing goggles. I'll keep my mouth shut next time.

I cannot believe that Russell kept making comments aboiut how hard the twins are to ride on the curves, and how the inline bikes are much easier to turn. then he made reference how he used to ride the harley....rex

Right as Danny was closing the gap or passing thru said turns. Gotta love it when the ill handling Buell runs around the outside of the "better handling" IL4s.

Way to ride Danny!

Great race right to the end.Danny and Hayden bumping bars on the last lap then Danny pulling away for the win.
A real nail biter.

I caught that as well... when the Yamaha was in front of the Buell, and the Buell executed a nice draft pass, it was "because the Buell has so much power". A lap later, when the exact scenario was repeated but with the Yamaha passing the Buell, then no comment.

What a great race though! My 10 and 8 year old snuck down after I put them to bed to watch it... I told them they could stay up as long as they rooted for Buell, and they stayed engrossed until the end.

Indeed, that was a great race. These guys are making the Superbike races downright boring.

Super pass by Danny at the end...whew!

That was no doubt, the best motorcycle race I have watched in recent memory. Constant lead swaps, lead pack low sides, clean contact/ dramatic endings. Honestly would not have mattered who won, that would have still been a jewel of the series, I'm more than glad it was Danny though.

I don't know....maybe DMG is on to something here?

It was a great race and i agree that DMG should be applauded by the masses, not what's going on now. Yes, it was a great win by Danny. He was so pumped at the end and i believe he would have been almost as pumped even if he had not won the race. This is fun.

BTW, the top 3 out of 4 finishers in the 2nd WSBK race in Assen were Ducati.

Blake, I don't know. Seems to me like the Yamaha of Josh Herrin and several other guys was reeling in Eslick many times in the corners. The IL4s just looked alot more maneuverable in transitions.

And it was pretty obvious to me that the Buell has a horsepower advantage. Eslick easily rode around the IL4s on the straights, while the IL4s had to slipstream the whole straight just to go up along side and pass Eslick on the brakes.

can Scott Russell know any less about Buells. I wanted to throw a brick through my tv.
The I4's turn so much better. The V-twins can't turn...when I used to ride one.
I wish Scott Russell would ride a new Buell and become enlightened.

And of course we ALL know the Ducatis did well ONLY because of the displacement allowances given the Twins in WSBK!

+1 Two Buells+Crusty! It is cool to watch "Slick"ride, you can tell the bike fits him right. If Herrin didn't slip off the peg on the last lap it would have close!Really great racing so far!

Fredrik, the 1125R does have a torque advantage, which means it will come out of the corners better. The lighter top 600s have a power to weight advantage though that is seen at tracks with longer straightaways in trap speeds. Also the 600 will transition better because it is lighter and engine configuration. As a result several top 600s had faster lap times. What gave Eslick the win was consistency. He ran more than a dozen sub-1:30 laps where the competition would hit a 1:28.9 lap then back it up with a 1:31.5. Chas Davies on the KWS Aprilia was riding strong but had clutch problems that hurt him two laps. Two 600s were running away from the field but over rode corners and low sided. It's all racing which turned out to be one great race with different types of bikes with advantages and disadvantages in different places on the track.

Someone shed some light on what engine internals make a IL4 turn easier than a Twin?

I4 turn in easier? I don't know, I never rode a 600. Maybe they do.
What I hate is that Scott Russell is Comparing the HD VR1000 that he rode to the Buell 1125R.
Maybe next race I'll just turn down the sound..or just get a brick..

All other things being equal, an inline 4 can be lighter because there is only 1 cylinder assy not 2, 1 head not 2, so less metal is needed in a IL4 than a twin. Less weight is a built-in advantage.

So a IL4 has a smaller crankshaft that a twin? The spinning mass of the crankshaft resists movement. Am I close?
