I know this is sorta old news, but since the next race isn't for a while and we are graced with Richie's presence, I thought I throw it out there.

Other than the published reason of "passing during a yellow flag," what were the details? There was some obvious confusion among the race officials, did Danny get caught up in that?

It was unfortunate that the first race for DMG with the pace car had to be the Daytona 200. There was a lot of confusion among riders and officials. We didnt really agree with the results....but understood. We decided it best to take our lumps, lick our wounds, and move on to Fontana. Like our team...they are a work in progress....I think down the road we will all agree for the better.

>>> We decided it best to take our lumps, lick our wounds, and move on to Fontana.

Smart move.

In addition to finally marrying talent, management and machine at the same time the thing that most impresses me, having been in this Buell "Race Chase" for over 20 years is the professional way that the RMR effort is being run.

Racing is business. You don't shit in your own nest and there is wisdom in playing the long game.

I think one of the things I, if I were involved, would be doing at some point (and it's likely already occurred knowing the folks involved) is to have a business discussion with young Eslick to make certain he understands the "big picture".

He (and I've not met him in person) seems to be not only a talented racer but a gregarious and engaging young man. He's the perfect "front" for big time sponsors like Geico. He speaks well, wins and looses with grace and is a true pro.

Sponsors (ask the swimmer who had the 500,000 boxes of Wheaties with his picture donated to a food bank) don't want controversy . . . they want effective visibility.

I'm a businessman and a devoted Buell fanatic who's been riding Buells and winning business awards since you could load all the Buells in the USA in the back of a U-Haul.

I could not be more thrilled with the way the entire RMR-Geico-Rossmeyer team is representing Buell.

P.S. - I'm sending the Geico Powersports folks some study materials to help them understand how unique Buell and the folks in the world of Buell are.

Thanks Richie.

+1 on that. I couldn't agree more. Great racer and, just as important, great person. Whoever made the call to bring him on board the Buell deserves a huge high five. Well done all.

Fres..
First race under new rules. There was plenty confusion in the hotpits after that long redflag.
- what we could bring over the wall
- how to restart and set up the grid for the restart
- when to take tirewarmers on/off.

To name a few.
The AMA officials were learning through the headset as the event unfolded. At Fontana, the officials were much more in the groove. I'm not faulting the officials, I'm not pointing the finger at anyone. This is a brand new racing season with major changes in procedure and rules. The "knowing what to do" part is rapidly getting solid (Teams and Officials).

Eslick and RMR did the right thing by accepting the decision, not dwell on it and concentrate their energy on future events.
