Besides the rumors of our hero Walt Sipp (first ever to complete Daytona 200 on a Buell) I know of another AMA Pro Daytona Sport Bike racer who is switching from IL4 to Buell, right here in Texas and sponsored by a friend.

Go Walt Sipp and the Bison Racing Buell!

Go Larry Meyers and the soon to be AAA Forktruck Racing Buell!

How cool is this!

Privateers, finding that they have no way of competing with the Japan Inc factory preferred machinery are switching to Buell and going racing to win. Excellent!

Things are getting more exciting in AMA Pro Racing every day.

That's an accurate statement ! This is the way racing is SUPPOSED to look!

By the way, I was reading an article over on the SpeedTV website regarding AMA Superbike, and the last page caught my eye:

http://moto-racing.speedtv.com/article/martin-smas hing-the-illusion-of-parity//P4/

The line that caught my eye (this is Roger Hayden speaking) was:

"...Eslick's bike didn't really look like that much fun going through the Esses..."

HUH?? I thought that was the whole POINT of the short wheelbase, mass centralization and steep steering head angle (not to mention the over-sized forks). Any idea what he's talking about?

Eslick himself has made comments about having concerns going through the esses on the Buell.

The kinda cool part about Buell is that you can ASK Eslick (here, in fact) . . . try that with one of the "big boys".

But why should that be? The whole design of the bike is that it is built to "own the corners..."

Maybe the 1125R goes through transitions so quickly that it makes it hard for the rider to stay on the bike...

At the race this weekend (Road Atlanta) the announcer kept saying the Buell had a hard time changing directions in the esses due to being taller and having a higher center of gravity than the 4 cylinders.

That wasn't really evident watching how Danny accelerated out of the esses and passing folks on the steep up hill that follows.

The announcer also said that Eslick had wider bars installed to help him negotiate the esses in the chicanes.

The SpeedTV guys kill me with their "Buell Subject Matter Expert" Comments. Most of the stuff they say, is wrong, and they have no idea what say to the audience about the Buell except that it's fast. I would sure hope by the next couple of races they do their homework and start saying accurate FACTS instead of opinions. I like the Aussey Announcer best though, he doesn't try to break the tech down, he just makes good observations and statements about the racing.

Hold the phone, I never said he doesn't know what he's talking about. I said he doesn't know what to say about Buell. Watch the races, listen to what he says and you might see what I mean. I'm not at all doubting the man's credibility. I was making a comment on his familiarization about our brand. That's all.

Some amazing riding here. How did Eslik miss it?
How did 97 save it after being crossed up like that?

Freddy Spencer is horrible at commentating. He might be the nats ass at teaching and have a wealth of knowledge upstairs, but expressing that verbally is NOT his strong suit.

Great point Blake. I wonder if we will see more defections to the Twin-side?

Must be pretty attractive to a privateer to know that your can get a bike equal to the series points leader and winner of 3 out of the last 4 races for $20k or less.

AND also know that you will get the same support from the BMC Racing Division given to the RMR team.

That is really cool.

He's also a big dickwad. Closed down his "school" and screwed all that paid in advance out of a refund. Nice guy.

Closed down his "school"

Don't think he had much choice, I think his world, at least financially has come crashing down for some reason.

I agree with closing the school, but keeping the money? Pretty low class in my book. Obviously he has a job. He should try paying those people back.

Some are still faster than others!

That and that ain't no twin.

I still prefer World Superbike. However I think Buells have been growing in popularity, at least in racing circles, mostly due to their great support to the privateers. I see more and more Buells at the track every year. A trend sure to continue and I couldn't be happier.

The issue in the S's is engine rotational inertia, or flywheel effect. Far, far less on 600's than on a bigger twin. So the 600's turn more quickly in the S's, but the penalty is they can't get traction out of the corners, while the Buell just explodes out of the corners. The Buell is also super in other types of corners. Depending on the track there will be more or less of different types of corner scenarios.

We knew Atlanta would be tough with lots of hard braking for a heavier bike and the S's. Turned out OK overall though. I guess owning the most corners is what counts.

Freddie should know better, too, higher CG bikes get through S's better, and he should remember what an unrideable bike the NS-500 was with the fuel tank on the bottom. It's all a very careful balancing act of effects when designing a chassis. Being a great rider often has little to do with technical knowledge, and with Irv Kanemoto as crew chief, Freddie just had to ride.

170 and 200 mph down the straight all looks the same on TV.

We are currently running a 2009 ZX6R, Iam looking to find a new 2009 Buell 1125R for Larry to ride, I have my own 2005 XB12R which is a blast to ride , but to compete in AMA it is obvious a Buell 1125R is what we need, hope to find someone on the Bad Web who can get us a 1125R soon. Thanks again Blake.
