>>>>Like the new Buell pegasus logo

That was my FIRST question. I am thinking this is from Alex. I really like the "Engineered in East Troy, WI USA" logo. I want that for my bike!

Chad . . .you want "elevation changes"? . . . this is from yesterday. We had a Porsche event and I showed up on a bike.

I can't wait to see how the Buells do at Road Atlanta and Barber!

This was posted by an Anon on another thread and seems like it would fit here.

Actually, the facts from the time splits showed that the fast 600's and the Aprilia were faster on the straights. The Buell was good at initial acceleration, which was what got Danny the lead when the flag turned green. The one announcer was commenting on what he saw, which was that the Buell was smoother in the corners. It seemed like the other guy was attributing it to Danny not working as hard. But in fact, that's actually where Danny was the fastest, in the corners.

AMA has already looked at all the split times and the radar and sent out a message about that to the other teams, saying they will not make a penalty until it is shown that the bike's power gives it an advantage.

The advantage is obviously Danny, he should be made to race with one hand tied behind his back! The rules were initially proposed with a dyno'd horsepower limit. that would have kept any sized bike from having an advantage. I believe Honda said that no way were they getting on a dyno. Brian

...and he (Hacking) "certainly thinks the Buell has an unfair advantage. I've heard him say so in the post-race interview at Fontana."

Sounds like an excuse to me...

Being the times are close enough, did you ever stop to think the Buell just flat out handles better?? Hasn't that what has been said about Buells for years, great handling but down on power??

Probably the way to go. Would eliminate much of the complexity from the series. Also three dyno runs post-race is MUCH easier than what the wining teams are forced to do in the current system....especially the Buell team. Ouch.

It's *so* unfair, I tell ya!

Ive never watched an AMA race before last night. I admit having a Buell participating has really sparked an interest for me. It seemed like it must be pretty fair to me as almost every brand was in the top ten if I can recall correctly. If Buell was so over powered then it should have filled the box which it did not. It seems more realistic to me that Eslick and the Buell just meshed really well. I can relate as I was clumsy in the curves on my CBR but I am worlds better on my XB9.

Whether it is overpowered or not does not decide if it will fill the box. There has been a lot of that statement on here, but it's just not correct. Somebody has to ride it well. Obviously Eslick can.

I was at a MSF Experienced Rider course yesterday, great experience.

2 of the 12 bikes were 2005 XB9SX's. : ) What a fluke. Made for great fun though, an XB9 makes those drills feel like shooting fish in a barrel.

I felt bad for the guy on the Ducati Monster, and the guy on the GSXR-1000. They were struggling almost as much as the people that were two up on a big Honda cruiser.

The guy on the Blackbird (even if it was silver) moved pretty good though. As did the guy on the road king.

Go figure. That 1000CC GSXR1000 was far slower then my 76 HP twin. How did that happen? I must be cheating.

(And one of the instructors rode an S3... so instead of yelling at me for doing stoppies on the "swerve then brake" drill, he gave me a thumbs up : )

Between the two 05 XB9SX's there, we had 80,000 miles between us. Total mechanical issues? One sheared header stud, on my bike, the result of a lost exhaust mounting bolt, that I probably torqued wrong. We were both on original belts and original pulleys.

Are you saying that Eslick is that much better than them?

As a racer overall, probably not, on a 1125R apparently so. (for now)

The real question should be, "Are all those riders finishing ahead of the supposedly overpowering Buells of Barnes and Higbee that much better than them? Answer yes or no and it makes no difference , it still proves the point of parity for the machines in the series.

Danny is an exceptionally talented racer and he and his team nailed the setup, so yes, on the 1125R at Fontana, Slick was darn near in a class of his own.

I second Randy's question back at you.

So back to my original statement.
Whether it is overpowered or not does not decide if it will fill the box. There has been a lot of that statement on here, but it's just not correct. Somebody has to ride it well. Obviously Eslick can.

In response to this statement that was posted.

Are you not proving my statement?
Whether it is overpowered or not doesn't decide if it will fill the box!

If somebody has their defense mechanism turned on, turn it away from me.
Read what I said and thanks for helping with my point.

If you go back and read my post. Make note of the point where I said it was overpowered, if that's what you think. Wait, I didn't say that.

Steve, Just to be clear, I was not rebuking your question as it is a question that many pundits have been making of late, I was just giving my answer to the question as put. I then expanded with the second question to dismiss the first question as irrelevant which furthers the point you were making, which I did read.

You will find your defense mechanism switch located 10mm below your right ear, but be careful, I broke mine twice already!

Thanks Randy for the response. I appreciate it.

My comments were focused a little more towards Blake as he responded to my original overpowered comment.

It darn sure is if the other riders include the likes of Shawn Higbee and Michael Barnes.

If I understood his original response, he was saying that if the bike is overpowered, Higbee and Barnes would also be on the box. I don't agree with that. His second comment and yours reinforced my thoughts.

Thanks again Randy.

Hand below ear, defense mechanism off.

Steve.

Related to the title of this thread....guys....do not think for one second that I have even an inkling of negative opinion....just bear with me.

Watching the Fontana race on Speed Channel...it is easy to see how some people could think Danny had some advantage BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE RACE WAS PRESENTED BY SPEED CHANNEL...

They didn't show the Buell racing the others...they showed the others racing each other...the commentators focused on how impossible it was for the others to keep up with the Buell...If I didn't know anything about racing...I would assume the Buell was outclassing them all....when in fact it was mostly the handling and the superior rider....Danny was heeled over so far, I thought he was going to drag a POD for cripes sake...nobody could turn like that....except the Buell...the drive out of the corners was awsome WHEN YOU COULD SEE IT...but NO...where was the camera most of the time?? SECOND place and BACK..I HEARD the Buell way more than I SAW it...

Lets just say the reporting was slanted to make the Buell look bad...I think that if the whiney boys can't get their program together, Buell should put together a totally spec '25 with ALL allowable mods (or whatever in a like for like basis the imports get away with) and put Danny on THAT for one race.

Plus the fact that Danny got the jump on the rolling start and only had to fight himself as Hacking got dragged into a dogfight a few lengths back. Danny's execution was flawless( as far as I could see from the coverage anyway) while the following riders had a couple of minor guffaws
(Hacking was visibly having trouble with the Kawi's suspension setup) and more than one rider was getting a little more slip then they like out of the tires. Spec tires so you can't argue against the Buell there with the over powered bull. Danny is a class act and great talent. He deserves better than he is currently receiving.

I don't think the reporting was slanted to make the Buell look bad. I think they called it as they saw it which made the Buell look really good.

But, it also made it look more powerful.

I wonder, just wonder if anyone has suggested to Danny that he not make it look so easy next time...if indeed he finds himself out in front by six seconds again.

that said...I got soooo tired watching Maladin and Spies win every race for the last several years and often winning by a large margin. Apparently nobody suggested they slow down.
