Does anybody know the fastest lap time from american sportbike class so we can compare Eslicks times? I was just thinking if the 1125R would be competitive or not. I know there is a HP dissadvantage for the 1125R but torque has to be right there for the short tracks.

Best time during the race by Danny was a 1:27.83

Best time for 10th in S'bike was 1:26.7.

The DSBK Buells according to everyone who knows have stock engines with pipes and make 140RWHP. I also heard Shawn's bike weighed 413lbs at the end of Daytona.

A tenth place Superbike would be around 185RWHP, the top guys probably 200RWHP, and I think they weigh around 375lbs.

So although it'd take a lot of work to get near those Superbike numbers, you'd have to think that if they made the bikes lighter and got to 160RWHP, they might do OK. Certainly top ten.

Of course even that costs money and takes people, which I know Buell has little of.

Yeah, it's not hard to get 175HP at the rear wheel on a GSXR1000 with a pipe and some fuel injection tuning. I know teams that had 189HP in their AMA Superstock bikes in 2006.

Shawn Higbee seems to be holding his own in Superbike.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to see it on Speed, but I think his results don't look too bad for a guy out on his own with no budget on an underpowered bike with quirky design elements that render it incapable of competing with "real" superbikes.

Makes you wonder what he (or Danny) could do with another 30 HP.

What is the difference between Shawn's Sportbike and his Superbike? The difference in his fastest lap times is approaching 2 seconds. Is that a tire difference?

I dunno but here is a spec that makes me want to fall asleep. Only five makes in the race.

16 - GSX-R1000
5 - CBR1000RR
3 - YZF-R1
2 - 1098R
1 - 1125R

A breath taking top ten....

7 - GSX-R1000
1 - 1098R
2 - YZF-R1

Some needs to bring the no doze for these displacement only racing.

Good job Higbee.

Beat a 1/2 dozen GSX-R1000s
Beat all but one CBR1000RRs
Beat one of the three YZF-R1s
Beat one of the two 1098Rs

Not mentioned; More than 14 percent of the field were DNFs or DNS casulties...all of them Japanese manufactured bikes. What happened to the usual snide comments about reliability issues?

At the moment, Shawn only has one bike. His Superbike isn't a Superbike. He's running a Daytona Sportbike with slicks in that class.

When the Buell has to be highly modified to be competitive in Superbike,we'll see how they hold up.As of now they are running stock bikes and they can only be competitive against 600's.

Yep, the goal was to field a low cost, low maintenance bike for privateers in DSBK. Looks like we have that moving along well for early in the season. I'm sure we'll learn more.

And Superbike, well Shawn just finished 15th on a stock bike. I'll bet the guys in 16th and 17th on their GSXR1000's would have a hard time agreeing the bike is only competitive against 600's.

Of course they're probably not fast like the complainers who are posting. Nor are the guys on GSXR 1000's and Ducatis behind Barnes in 3rd in the Daytona ASRA race.

Yep Buell haters will always be what they are. Hating a tiny American company going up against import giants. No wonder our economy is where it is.

This is what Buell is up against.
