I have one, it seems to work fine, all of the suspension guys at the track frown upon it though, they will not work in it (revalve, oil change).
The bolt holes are not the correct size, The holes on the shock are smaller than the holes in the frame and swingarm. They will need to be bushed down to work properly

Interesting, I know some suspension guys that are suggesting it. I would like to go with Elka because I would have some support at the tracks that I want to go to. The price is a little easier on the wallet too.

Have you adjusted the settings and noticed any differences? Does the slow speed rebound work like it is supposed to? Can you rebuild it yourself? Do the clicks on the adjusters feel like they are supposed to? D they have a good selection of springs for different weights??

What was involved in mounting?

Elka is not at any of the tracks i go to, (ASRA Nationals, CCS Mid-Atlantic, Daytona) or i have not seen them, all i see is Ohlins and Penske. It could be a brand thing. I have not had any problems with the shock, the adjustments seem to work fine for us, and we can get springs anywhere, not just from Elka.

Thats cool. I'll do some more digging and maybe get one. They're big into offroad. I know everyone runs the big two but I don't want to get it just for that reason. If the Elka is in the same league, why not?

I think the Elka is good, but I don't think it's up to the Penske standard.

It's a less expensive opportunity for a lot of the same features. In the end, a lot of it depends upon your individual ability to set up the complete chassis with proper geometry, correct spring rates, and even selecting spring rates that work better for you than standard.

Springs are springs. It's a rate and a size. They can come from anyone as long as it meets the needs that you want. Straight rate, rising rate, blue...buy it off the shelf or get one custom made.

For me, I'm kind of particular, I use the Penske. Roger started that company for some good reasons, and their quality reflects a lot of some of his irritation with others.

Oh, why don't some guys work on them at the track, the Elka's?

Elka's original business model had them doing all the servicing of the shocks. That had US folks shipping them to and out of Canada. Pretty good expense in a regular service. Additionally, they were also hesitant of selling service parts to very many suspension guys. So, if one took an Elka apart and it needed a seal, well, it needed a seal and there was no part in stock, etc. Ohlins and Penske stuff is pretty easy to get parts for, and guys will have parts, etc. for immediate service at some tracks in a matter of an hour or two or at worst overnight.

I'm going to call GMD computrack. Mike helped me set up my front end with Racetech stuff. At the time he was getting ready to install an Elka on his race bike. That was a few years ago but I'm sure he has formed an opinion on the brand. I know he sells Ohlins and Penske too. I would love to do a track day that was all about suspension tuning. I know the basics but would love to take it to a higher level.
