I just wanted to drop a quick note of thanks to Blake and the whole Badweb crew! The prize money they put up for us amateurs at the CCS races was fantastic! I wasn't able to cash in on any of it but the fact that it was there was great to see! The riders on the other brands couldn't believe it. I heard an awful lot of "Holy crap are you serious," from the other riders when it was announced at the riders meeting! So thanks again. Overall a great weekend for the Buell gang..

I would also like to thank Blake and the Badweb crew for putting together the contingency. I high-sided to the moon in turn 5 and tore my bike to pieces. It was a very expensive crash and it sure did help out when Blake walked up at the end of the day and gave me a couple checks. It really made a difference for me that weekend. Showed what the Buell community is all about.

Buell's film crew was filming in my pit when Blake walked up with check in hand and they were totally blown away that something like that was being done.

Special thanks to Terry Galagan, Henry Duga, Dan Bilansky, Mike Kirkpatric, Dean Hagemann and Bob Sweeny.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for helping out an amateur racer at a time when it was really needed.

Badwebbers are awesome.

I'd also like to add my thanks to Blake and the BadWeb community!

I'm also an amatuer racer and even though I did get a check it was really cool that you made it available and it was great to have Blake make the trip, too!

What a great weekend!! Thanks to everyone who stopped by, took photos and cheered on all of the racers!

Thanks again to Henry and Buell for letting all the racers get involved with the autograph session, also. That was a highlight of my weekend!!

How many other race brands had their marques Race Manager, Lead Design Engineer, C.E.O. and brand namesake all on there, talking to even us small fries.

Pretty much explains why I'm a Buell guy!!

I know this is going to be redundant, but Buell is the best!

Congratulations to everyone that participated in this years 25th celebration. Seth and I traveled quite a distance to come and play at Road America and our successes couldn't have been accomplished without the help a several dedicated BadWebbers. To the Slaughter family, your help in the pits got us through a few exhausting races. Dris and the rest of the Netherlands crew got our bike's ECMs up to speed. Smoke was there helping us too.

Blake...ameteurs need cash more than anyone to keep their racing dreams alive. Thanks for coming through in such a big way this weekend.

Thanks again to all the other competitors! (Ralph, Rocco, Troy, Matt, Joel...) I think we all put on quite a show. Maybe next time I will be able to visit RA without crashing though. That would be nice.

If anyone has pictures of the racing events, please post them soon.

Wow! Very Cool! I saw Blake walking around the pits with his check book out writing checks and I was like "what are you doing!?"

He said, "writing checks to the Buell racers..."

I was floored.

NICE.

I've posted some to the Homecoming thread, unfortunatly I was suffering from new-camera-itis and a lot of shots didn't work out, and most of the good ones are Ducatis!

Not this one tho:

It was alot of fun to help Blake figure all of this out--with an assist from Henry Duga, and even more fun to meet all of the Buell racers as we wandered the pits to pass the news. What a great bunch of guys.

I've got a lot to share once I get settled down. . . just returned after a week on the road.

But one thing that needs saying here and now is that Blake and the Blaketingency money changed Buell racing. It was one of the most positive "put your money where your mouth is" moves I've seen in motorcycling.

I got wind of it on Saturday afternoon and was hearing that folks who'd opted to not race Saturday were suddenly rethinking that decision when they saw the $1,000 checks.

We were at Victorian Village setting up band equipment on Saturday when good news kept coming from the race track about the Buell successes.

Thanks to Blake for making this an amazing weekend of racing.

My check is heading to Blake tomorrow. As Buell fields more and more competitive bikes I want to see this grass roots support continue.

Kudos to Blake for perhaps one of the most positive reminders of the event as to what makes Buell special.

Court

P.S. - Can someone tell me how that BMW, presumably horsepower limited, has the SAME horsepower as the Buells, weighs more and absolutely walks away from the rest of the pack on the straights. The 2, 3, 4 spots were all clustered within a 1 second interval and yet this BMW looked like it had rocket assist. I'm going back to high school physics and trying to figure out how something with the same horsepower (the bikes are all dyno'd) with greater weight can accelerate so much faster. . . inquiring minds want to know.

Court,

I thought the BMW's regularly dyno'd about 10 hp higher than the Buells but were allowed because of the higher weight limit. As speed gets higher and acceleration slows, more hp will produce a higher top speed.

Similar to the guy posting here a few weeks ago about switching from an SV to a Buell: hp to weight was about the same, but the Buell is faster.

I confess I'm not totally fluent in the rules of the race but I'm damn curious.

The last time I saw someone run away from an "equalized" group like that was the XR-750 race where someone protested and the alleged violator quickly forfeited the win and exited the track at Sacramento.

It was later found she was running an XR-1000.

Some just intuitively looks wrong with two presumably "kinda matched" bikes and one leaving the other like it is standing still.

Can the BMW be THAT much faster?

Could be a set of "short" gears in the diff. Torque multiplication and so forth.. I know Kern et al. have been experimenting with them.

This is one thread where Im glad to be posting redundant info and thoughts. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to Blake for creating the badweb racer support program. To Tim (Smoke) for helping us through any and all obstacles that we encountered during the weekend (hope your home bound Iron Butt went smooth). To the Slaughter crew for some excellent pit and pit stop work and support. To the Netherlands crew for sharing there racing knowledge and for helping us get the most from our bikes. Dris(Easy Rider),I guess 500 rpm goes a long way.

I also owe a big thanks to all the ASRA pro Buell racers who always take to time to help us amateur Buell racers with set up or guidance with racing lines or whatever we need. These guys have so much experience and knowledge and they are so cool to take the time to share it. Brian Bemisderfer, Dan Bilansky, Dave Estok, Walt Sipp, Art Diaz, Paul James, Thanks.

Thanks to Anthony (mutation racer) Caliguri and Liberty HD/Buell for helping get my bike race ready.

It was also great to see the band play at the Boiler Room on and to meet all the Buellers at the host hotel.

As others have said. Buell is an amazing company. This was proven to me again on Sunday when the CEO of the company strolled up to our pit, greeted me by name and asked how I was doing. These guys are top notch!

The one thing that Pete and I did not get a chance to do while in Wisconsin was to take any pictures, so if any one has pics of us or the event in general that they’d like to share, were all for it.

On a less important topic, I finished out the weekend with six podium finishes.

Thanks for making this a great Trip

Seth

Keep in mind what makes this possible is our support of BadWeB sponsors. Keep up the good work!

I would like to thanks Blake and the rest of the Badweb community for what they did this last weekend at the ASRA/CCS Road America round of racing. The purse pay out that Badweb but up was GREAT! I was even more pleased to see purse pay outs in the amateur classes. With the cost of travel to the races and most amateurs don't have that big sponsor yet to help out with cost. These guys are out their spending there own money trying to make a name for them selfs and get that big sponsor so they can keep doing what they love. I think it was really great what Blake and the Badweb did and hopefully it put some funds back in some of the guys pockets so we will see them at the next race. I know with me getting married in 9 days I know where my purse money is going!!!

Thanks again to Blake and Badweb!
I would also like to thank the fans and my crew Dean, Terry, Richie, Michael, Bob and George!

Danny, Thanks for taking the time to help me get my forks sorted as best we could. It felt better after the tweaks and I managed to bag 6 podiums and a 4th(supertwins) for the weekend.

Congrats on the wedding.

Ill see you at Summit on Sept 5-7... that’s if your wife will let you out of the house..
If for some reason she doesn’t, just send your bike down and ill take great care of it while you are busy ordering your new blinds and matching toilet seat covers. It will be a sacrifice, but im always looking to help a fellow Buell racer.

Thanks Schmitty and all for all the support and kind words.

I was genuinely privileged and honored to be able to disburse most of the remainder of BadWeB's Buell racers' award fund that around 80 BadWeB racing fans contributed back in 2005.

We/BadWeB awarded a total of $5200 to Buell racers at the July 5th and 6th CCS events at Road America; $1800 went to the Buell racers who swept the Supertwins Expert race podium on Saturday; congratulations again to Dan Bilansky, Dave Estok, and Brian Bemisderfer for that very dominant showing. We were thrilled to award the rest ($3,400) to the first three Buell finishers in each of the Amateur Thunderbike and Amateur Supertwins races, both on Saturday and Sunday, four races in total.

Hey Joel! Congratulations on such a dominant performance all weekend! : ) I give full credit to your amazing pit-crew/team-treasurer. : D

Seth and Pete, I sure enjoyed hanging out in your pits and sharing in the celebration of some great racing success. Thanks for the hospitality!

Hope you heal quickly Pete.

I have to pretty much say the same for all the Buell teams and their supporters.

Thanks to Team Frederick and Bryan Bemisderfer for the Gator Aid and a shady place to take a break.

BadWeB owes a very special thanks to Henry Duga of Buell Racing for helping FiremanJim and I figure out a good use of the BadWeB award fund for the weekend and for hooking us up with Kevin Elliot, the very accommodating and helpful Director of Operations for CCS/ASRA.

We thank Kevin for taking time to consider our plans and for graciously offering a means to avoid the normal fee-based CCS contingency/sponsorship approach. We weren't looking for publicity, just to award the Buell racers, and Kevin was very supportive of us, allowing use of copiers and other office equipment/supplies to assemble our notices on Friday afternoon.

Thanks to Eric Kelcher, CCS/ASRA Director of Competition, for graciously providing us with a listing of the pertinent Buell racer entries as of Friday afternoon. Try walking into race control during race-day for any national level racing event and asking for stuff; you'll likely be sternly told to vacate. Kevin, Eric and all the CCS folks were nothing but helpful and thoughtful. They made me wish that the CMRA was still CCS affiliated. They have the best rules and class structure and now I know that they have some fine folks behind the scenes too. Thank you CCS/ASRA! : )

I owe a very major personal thank you to Paul James who spared me a very early trip from the host hotel (over an hour from the track) to the 7:30AM riders meeting on Saturday morning to announce our racer awards program. Paul also helped spread the word about the BadWeB awards within the paddock. Not only that, but Paul was one of the four additional Expert Buell racers who stepped up and entered the Saturday Supertwins Expert race making it that much more interesting for all the Buell racing fans in attendance. You ROCK Paul! Thank you! Buzzing the pit road wall was cool too.

And thank you to FireManJim! Thank you Jim for all your help, for proofing the notification flyers and for taking time to help get the word out and collaberate/advise/consult on the whole deal and for being your normal amazingly upbeat and enthusiastic self. Not sure how you do it. You rock amigo!

The experience was so positive and the response so enthusiastic that we might-oughta consider making this an annual tradition. If the support is there, we will surely do it.

Thanks all for the enthusiastic support and kind words. I'm not worthy, but I sure do appreciate them. : ) I thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend and being able to write some checks on behalf of all the BadWeB Buell Racing Enthusiasts only added to the fun.

Sure was nice to be able to meet all the racers, Pete and Seth, Joel, Bryan Bemisderfer, Dave Estok, Danny Bilansky, Ralph (Gearhead), Paul James, Joel Spalding and family.

I missed a couple of the guys at the track, but am in touch and will be mailing out their awards this week.

More later including photos! So many cool folks, so little time!

This, in my eyes, was one of the high points of the Buell presence this year. Buell Racing (some will remember my "ridiculously over confident" declaration following the XBRR debut) is on the rise and the Badweb funds really made it interesting.

My "replenishment" check is on the way to you today.
